  1. College sports are essentially professional sports now.
  2. Maybe he landed a good NIL deal and is about to hit the transfer portal
  3. We’ve had plenty of freestyle success and a lot of it has been guys right out of college. But the motivation doesn’t have to be wrestling related… it could be for education, culture, experience, money, etc. Plus, you have to consider that most wrestlers who change citizenship are doing it to go to an “inferior” country. The main motivation is to secure an Olympic spot… he’s a gold medal contender for sure, but it’s far from a guarantee he could make Japans team. To be clear, I have no idea if this is his plan… it was pure speculation. But I don’t think you can say there would be no reason for it all.
  4. Yeah, I feel terrible for him. I think he just wanted a respectable retirement. He definitely couldn’t get it at OTT, and now he didn’t have the opportunity here because Nokhodi got caught in a lace. He can’t catch a break to even have a decent retirement
  5. He’s impressive for sure. Looks like he may be trying to attend college here. Maybe he will look to get US citizenship before 2028?
  6. That sucks! JB is done and likely going to retire. Doesn’t get a chance at bronze and doesn’t get a chance to leave his shoes on the mat And the stream cut out in his last match so we couldn’t even see! Not the retirement he deserves!
  7. Crashed for me too! Right during JB’s match
  8. I don’t think it was bad strategy or a lack of variety of attacks. We all know DT has a ton of different leg attacks and his game plan is always to be offensive and keep shooting. He will sometimes give up some points that way but has typically been able to overwhelmingly outscore his opponents twitch this strategy. Sadulaev is just so positionally sound that it looked like all his attacks were not very good. So it may have looked like Taylor just took a bunch of bad shots, but in reality it was just Sadulaev that made them look bad.
  9. Wow! Sadulaev’s defense is just too good. DT tried to throw everything at him and never really came close to a takedown. Sadulaev looks like he lost most of his “dad bod”… honestly he probably should try to go back down to 86. I think he could make the weight and would be dominant there. I think he was just so so good there was no reason to try to cut weight… until Taz showed up. It will be interesting to see if he considers going down
  10. Glad they fixed the score with Kilty… I couldn’t figure out how the other girl was getting points while being leg laced!
  11. Yeah I know. There was never a big emphasis on the University worlds either.
  12. I think the better question is why do we even have a U23 world championship? 22 and 23 year olds are literally in the prime of their life and the best ones can and do wrestle seniors. I’m all for more wrestling experience and opportunities for age level world championships, but I think you could cut it off at U20. So, IMO, it’s not very concerning that we didn’t send our best team to U23.
  13. Blaze is the top of this group imo. He is incredible for his age and I think he has tools that translate well to the next level. I love watching Bassett wrestle and I’m a big fan, but it think he will have a little bit tougher transition because he dominates so much with his pace but makes a few mistakes along the way. If he can clean them up he has the attitude to be next level. I think Duke and Jax are both going to be great at the next level and just a step behind Blaze
  14. I guess it’s a matter of preference, but I will say it wasn’t a bad movie. My expectations were just extremely high. Steve Carell is one of my favorite actors of all time and Channing Tatum is one of my wife’s favorite actors (not sure why lol). And the movie was an about one of the craziest wrestling stories ever. I really thought it would be my new all time favorite movie. Probably unfair expectations, but it really wasn’t close to my favorite
  15. I didn’t watch U20s, but after Blazes performance this weekend, I came back here thinking who the heck would’ve beaten him at U20s that he “only” got bronze?! Apparently the dude is pretty good lol
