  1. A lot of stuff can happen in the 2-3 months between those tournaments and NCAA seeding.
  2. Not worried about O'Toole at all, he is wrestling fine. He just hasn't been able to figure out Carr yet. He did make some adjustments after Carr's convincing initial win, and you could have flipped a coin in their second match. A lot of people (myself included) think he could have won that match had he been correctly awarded the takedown in regulation. (that of course is just my homer opinion though).
  3. I may have missed it, but does anyone else have a problem with Truax seeded second at 197? He does have a good win over Beard (3-2), and a decent win over Foy, but otherwise his results are very unimpressive for a 2 seed. His 2 Pac-12 tourny wins were both 1 pt. victories over the #22 seed and a non-qualifier. He has 6 bonus pt. wins this season, but all but 1 are vs non-qualifiers. He also got stuck by Trumble, the 6th seed. As a Tiger fan I'm happy he's a 2 since he's on the same side as #3 Elam, but it's hard seeing him as the 2nd best guy in this weight class.
  4. I've seen the rules. Puts the incentive to score on the defensive wrestler, but doesn't say top man can't be called. I watched top men push or pull a stand-up out of bounds multiple times and not get dinged. By rule, that's stalling on the offensive wrestler, but the refs won't call it.
  5. Ahhhh, dammit! Thanks for that. So does that make 5 at-larges? Hopefully he'll get one of those.
  6. NCAA website says 7 at 157 Big 12 Conference 6 6 7 7 7 8 6 4 6 8 65
  7. The refusal to call stalling on top still amazes me.
  8. Mizzou will qualify 10. Jacques and Hawks just won on the back side, so all 10 will place within the # of allocations at each weight.
  9. That was a confusing situation. Looked like the ref awarded the takedown on the edge for Keckeisen, then Schwab started arguing and threw the brick (I assume that he thought the TD was not awarded), and then the refs reviewed it and took the TD away. Although it was a close call, so the refs may have reviewed it on their own anyway.
  10. He's been wrestling pretty well lately, wrestling some good guys close but never quite able to get that signature win. He's the #4 pre-seed though with 4 AQ's, so it's not like he has a mountain to climb.
  11. Jeez you guys are sensitive. I'd say the same thing about Mizzou if they scheduled such a weak non-conference opponent for their last home dual, so don't get your panties in a wad.
  12. Why is Penn St. wrestling a bad non-conf. Clarion team for their last home dual of the year?
  13. I died 7 minutes just reading this thread.
  14. This used to be the night before the state wrestling tournament in Columbia, so a lot of the wrestlers and fans in town would head over and watch. The state tournament changed to Wednesday through Saturday of next week though. I assume Mizzou's schedule was already set, or they didn't want to move the dual closer to Big 12's.
  15. No reason for O'Toole and Carr not to wrestle. Win or lose, their potential championship match at the Big 12's should determine the 1 seed for natties.
  16. I'm not an insider, but on the flip side of your example I'd be willing to bet that's why Jacques doesn't have more offense for Mizzou. If he's wrestling Mauller and O'Toole in the room, they're both probably scoring off of 90% of his shots, so he becomes less sure of his offense there which probably carries over into matches.
  17. No, that's Bob Dole.
  18. You're partially correct. Past credentials are taken into account. The Dan Hodge Trophy is based on seven criteria including record, number of pins, dominance, past credentials, quality of competition, sportsmanship/citizenship and heart.
  19. Cox wasn't bad either. 3x champ at an upper weight, and it took a world and Olympic champ to keep him from getting 4. Also won an Olympic medal himself while still in college. His bonus rate wasn't as impressive because of his wrestling style, but 136-4 college record (28-0 his senior season) wasn't too shabby.
  20. I think this might have been the best thing for Elam. I don't think he really earned a #1 ranking, but I think he could definitely win it all (along with about 5 other guys). Hopefully this brings him back to earth and helps him refocus heading into the post-season.
  21. Mizzou can't finish shots when they get in deep. Jacques can't, Hart has a hard time finishing shots against decent guys, Hawks has no leg attacks, and Rocky (who should not have been ranked #1) had a hard time with it.
  22. No extras, just 10 guys? I'd hope he at least brings a couple of back-ups, just in case.
  23. This is all assuming MU wrestles their normal lineup vs both teams, which knowing Smith is improbable. I've seen him rest guys and lose duals as a result (SDSU, UNI).
