  1. You want to say it at NCAAs. You NEED to say it at NCAAs. pinfall, Pinfall, PINFALL. As an aside, I had a chuckle the other day when I was watching either a Jason Nolf or a Bo Nickal highlight video. I had to rewind to make sure I heard it right, but sure enough, Christian Pyle said pinfall. And who among us do not aspire to be like CP?
  2. That's nothing. There are guys on here who think pinfall is a foreign language.
  3. One area that has the potential to get very messy is collateral. Treasuries are used as collateral for every kind of trade everywhere in the world. If interest payments are missed it does not affect the ability to move Treasuries (i.e. post them as collateral), but if a principal payment is missed the issue is removed from FedWire (i.e. cannot be used as collateral). Another collateral based issue is that many systems will not allow defaulted bonds to be used as collateral (they have a price for collateral purposes of zero). Most large institutions have war gamed these scenarios (after all this artificial debt ceiling silliness has been around for a long time), and hopefully have the protocols in place to handle this. But what happens if a smaller participant trips up on this? Or what happens if the war gaming missed a scenario? No one really wants to find out.
  4. I quoted one above. JP Morgan.
  5. Very doubtful. Argentina has very famously defaulted (and not a technical default) multiple times. Yet they were able to issue a 100 year maturity bond just 1 year after their last default. The US is still the best credit available. As a matter of fact, you should not be surprised if the prices on Treasuries goes UP in the event of a default. As counter-intuitive as that seems that is what has happened in past debt ceiling crises as "flight to quality" causes people to buy more Treasuries in the face of a Treasury default. From JP Morgan: "but in the unlikely event of a technical default, we think Treasury yields would decline and the curve would steepen. This seems unusual in the context of a default, but Treasuries have rallied into the latter stages of other serious debt ceiling debates in 2011 and 2013."
  6. Though Social Security does flow through the Treasuries cash account. I am not sure what legal restriction they face.
  7. The issue is that not enough money will be taken in to pay all obligations: interest payments, principal payments, and other bills (there are 100 separate withdrawal sources on the Daily Treasury Statement - also FICA is the largest deposit on a normal day). So, choices would be made on which payments to make. A default is still possible in that case. The Treasury had $636 billion of cash on hand at the start of the year. It had $57 billion as of May 19. BTW, I was able to confirm that there are no cross default provisions for Treasuries. So the Treasury can selectively default, or selectively miss interest payments without it affecting other bonds.
  8. These ChatGPT things always crack me up, but I absolutely love them. We tested it at work with an options strategy that is fairly common. It got it hilariously, but very confidently, wrong.
  9. Jimmy Crapcorn? Jimmy John? Jimmy Thunderbox?
  10. And who the hell is Nicky Lee?
  11. I'm more disturbed than baffled.
  12. Projected at 29th based on seeds. Moved up to 18th. I still think 14th to 3rd is more impressive.
  13. I didn't see the match. I only read this post on HR in response to similar complaints that the ref screwed DeSanto ( which reminds me of the scene in Shawshank Redemption where Red points out that everyone in prison is innocent. He checks an inmate who says, "I didn't do it, my lawyer screwed me.") _____________________ ??? Garrett got three turns. You don’t put them on their feet when the top man is repeatedly scoring in par terre. On the Garrett TD, Austin got a caution for fleeing the mat. I don’t think the camera angle was good enough to say whether that was the right or wrong call. But the caution meant they go to par terre, which they did with 2:35 on the clock. It was 3-0 Garrett at that point. They blew the whistle and Austin immediately grabbed Garrett’s leg with it gripped for the sole purpose of preventing Garrett from scoring, That’s called negative wrestling and he was properly warned for it. Next Austin did the same thing with Garrett’s arm and again got a warning for negative wrestling. The first scored gut wrench finished with 2:20 on the clock, just 15 secs after they went in par terre and after two warnings for negative wrestling on Austin. Austin then grabbed Garret’s arm again and again got called for negative wrestling. At that point, the ref called a caution on Austin as he had already given Austin two warnings. That was with 2:12 to go. The caution meant a restart in par terre. On the restart, Garrett immediately went to another gut wrench, which he used to score in just 10 secs. He then got another turn that he finished just 15 secs later and the match ended.
  14. Perhaps for individual over achievement, but Oklahoma finished 18th with 29.5. Brewer scored 25, the other 4 wrestlers scored 4.5.
  15. Is it zero? When did Olympic redshirts become a thing?
  16. I couldn't do it. Eight years out of high school and I was married with kids. Granted, I married young and had kids young, but at some point most people would think it is time to do what all their peers are doing. That said, I have no issue with someone taking whatever time the rules allow.
  17. Thought I would post this here as there are a lot of questions about whether wrestlers will take an Oly RS. Every time I read one of those questions I wonder if that is even an option for a particular wrestler. Criteria to qualify for a 2024 Olympic Redshirt Year There are six ways to qualify for an Olympic Redshirt Year • Only required to meet one criteria: 1) Past National Team members • Top 3 from the Senior World Team Trials or Olympic Team Trials 2) Top 8 at the April 2023 Senior US Open 3) Top 8 at the December 2023 Senior US Nationals 4) Top 3 at the 2023 NCAA I Wrestling Championship 5) NCAA I Champion from a previous year AND top 2 from the 2023 U23 Nationals (must accomplish both) 6) Previous U17, U20, U23 World Medalist (UWW) Numbers 3 and 5 are still to be determined. Number 3 is an odd one in that it happens after the start of the season. 2024 USAW Oly RS Criteria
