  1. Is that the same recession that was looming in 2022, 2023, and all of 2024 so far? If so, sign me up for two.
  2. I assume he heard your plea and got out of the way for the youngsters.
  3. That is a very different argument than your original argument. But the point remains, if the old guard keeps beating the younguns, then the old guard earns the spot. These Monday morning quarterback arguments drive me crazy. Imagine holding a tournament and then NOT sending the winner to represent the US? It makes zero sense to me.
  4. But no youngster beat him at 92 which is why he was there and not a youngster. I assume you know that is what I was talking about, it being a thread prompted by the 92 world championship.
  5. Except the youngsters couldn't beat these guys, so what makes you think they would have won a medal against guys who could?
  6. If we are being honest, the housing bubble only burst under Bush. Clinton's policies are what got it inflated in the first place.
  7. JD Vance is the human embodiment of flip flop. JD Vance circa 2016: "I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler" JD Vance circa 2024: "Wait, I will be the front runner for the Republican nomination in 2028 if Trump wins in 2024? Oh yeah, I can put my spine in cold storage."
  8. OK, this was a huge pain in the ass, so I am not sure if I will do it again before the final tournament seeds come out. Especially if no one cares. But, I used an online expansion calculator to turn my probability of AAing by seed into the probability of each discrete number of AAs per team. I only did this for the 18 teams that have at least two expected AA's. Now, in addition to seeing the expected AA's, you can see how the distribution shakes out for each number of AA's from 0 to 10, along with the most probable result. All of this was done with the final pre-season Wrestlestat rankings (again assuming rank = seed). The one big caveat is that true freshmen who have not wrestled in a college open are not included in the rankings yet, as near as I can tell. Looks like Minnesota is safe for another year.
  9. I think it is safe to say the Uetake experiment demonstrates they do not stand a chance.
  10. One other thing that jumped out at me was the difference of opinion on Cornell. Wrestlestat likes Cornell a lot more than Intermat. Like 35% more from an expected scoring standpoint. And from a rank standpoint. Wrestlestat has Cornell wrestlers ranked higher in 8 of 10 weights.
  11. Off to North Dakota Statt
  12. The model is less difficult than getting the data necessary to build the model.
  13. Looks like Intermat added at least one redshirt freshman they had missed (or assumed wasn't at that weight or wasn't the starter) in Kale Petersen of Iowa. Still no Lilledahl, or any other true freshman who did not at least wrestle in a college open in 2024, that I can tell.
  14. Seems like this site last updated in 2020.
  15. The judge hearing this case put it best: "This is a rather contentious books and records dispute that involves a private Delaware entity, owned by family members. Coloring this matter and atypical in Section 220 cases, there has been a profusion of bickering related to familial hostility and certain disclosed actions by family members—matters which I don’t find relevant here."
  16. Intermat dropped their new pre-season rankings a few hours ago and Wrestlestat did the same yesterday. There were a lot of line up changes and weight changes in both sets of rankings. The biggest movers in my expected points outcomes based on Intermat rankings were Nebraska (+6.9), Lock Haven (-8.8) and NC State (-11.1). Nebraska gained through Intermat sorting out 174 - 197 after Nebraska's announcement regarding weights. Previously they had Minto, Pinto and Allred, respectively. Now they have Pinto, Allred, and McDanel. Lock Haven lost out through Noto bumping up a weight (from 125 to 133) and down in rank (from #2 to #8). NC State lost out through Ryan Jack and Jackson Arrington redshirting. As a result NC State drops from #7, with an outside shot at the podium, to #15, and a remote shot, in my rankings.
  17. Not on Twitter. But even if I was you shouldn't tag me. It is @fishbane's stat.
  18. Seems like it is about clicks. He took 8+ minutes to not say anything, but there will be more videos. Where he will probably not say anything.

  21. It got dragged into the mud. Trump's specialty.
  22. The way I look at it is the powers that be use the scoring rules in two ways. One is to promote activities that they want more of. They want more takedowns. They made this clear when they changed a takedown from 2 to 3 points. The other way the scoring rules are used is to reward degree of difficulty. It is very difficult to expose your opponents back, so the longer you expose your opponents back the more points you will get. It is harder to pinfall your opponent than to beat them by a point, so you will get a bonus for this more difficult activity. For me, the reversal satisfies both elements. It is a takedown in the sense that the person who was up prior to the action is now down. And it is exceedingly difficult. For my money a reversal should be worth 3 points.
