  1. I've already had a couple of requests for after 3/15, erego the window starting on 3/16.
  2. Got it. Make sure you put your handle in the "what's this for?" line.
  3. I'm waiting for more input from the participants, but the window is from 3/16-3/19.
  4. Let's start getting the money in to reserve spots. Venmo me like last year, @ Michael-Novak-33. We're paying out to team trophy, which is top 3. I believe we did $20 last year.
  5. Gilman Khan mocking someone for not wrestling match 2 when he didn't even show up for match 1 is objectively hilarious.
  6. Meh. I want better sport. The sport is enhanced by having more high level athletes competing in it. In my mind, we're better off having Gomez rep Mexico then whomever they would put out in normal circumstances. Also, it's not really cheating so much as one might argue a lack of competitive spirit.
  7. What's the cheating? Repping a different country?
  8. Penn State lets America down again. #Sad
  9. Not even specifically Iowa, any Big 10 wrestler! This is more common for like a SOCON wrestler. More of a curiosity than anything, though. As I (and others, including yourself) have noted, he doesn't really have the wins. Interesting thought experiment, how high could he rise after B1Gs if he beats Smith (possible, but I would pick Smith)? What if he scored the upset over Brooks (highly, highly unlikely)? I would say a win over Smith is unlikely to get him over 6-7, and a win over Brooks still unlikely to get him any higher than 3.
  10. Is this a first? I'm not knocking the ranking, either, it's true he hasn't earned much higher, though he didn't have much opportunity.
  11. Was there an episode today? Nothing uploaded on my podcast app.
  12. What does that entail? Apparently some people watched our draft play out last year?
  13. Where are you seeing the coaches ranking? All I'm seeing is that they stopped releasing them at 197.
  14. Seems like Iowa is rolling out Bradley Hill, based on the allocations.
  15. I don't mind it being there for the discussion. If @BobDole or @Husker_Du want to move this thread to the main college board, that's fine. Is anybody other than @Antitroll2828 thinking a Zoom might be difficult for them. We can probably work around a couple of people not being there, but if like half the draft can't be there, it defeats a lot of the purpose, IMO.
  16. As to the number of teams, 15 is my absolute max. I'm willing to fill the draft back out if everybody doesn't want back in, but I may not go all the way back up to 15. Right now we're at 9 confirmed.
  17. Right now, for the draft, we're looking at March 16-19 as the window where it has to happen. If we do it on 3/16 or 3/17, it could theoretically be done at earlier hours.
  18. Pretty reliable source for football fans weighs in.
  19. Hey guys, we'll use this as our official thread. Our league is capped at 15 participants, and last year's participants will have first dibs. CONFIRMED RETURNING @Idaho @MPhillips @flyingcement ...me. I'm in. @nhs67 @jajensen09 @MizzouFan01 @lu_alum WAITING ON RESPONSE @goheels1812 @Jerry Callo @JVStateChamp @GreatWhiteNorth @idc2 @Antitroll2828 @Perry The plan is to try to have a Zoom call this year to make the draft move faster. Looking forward to it, boys!
  20. My take on who should be Iowa's postseason lineup: 125: Ayala 133: Teske 141: Woods 149: Rathjen 157: Franek 165: Caliendo 174: Kennedy 184: Not Gabe Arnold. 197: Glazier 285: Kueter
  21. Ben Kueter vs. Konner Doucet Lets see what Kueter can do against the third tier at this weight. Doucet out here looking like the assistant manager at an Arby's. JUST GET ME MY BEEF N' CHEDDAR, MY GUY! 1st Period: Kueter just seems hesitant due to the size difference. A bummer for us as fans that he's doing both sports, as obviously that's going to hurt his development. Neither guy really did anything. 0-0. 2nd Period: Doucet down, and a nice mat return! Doucet nearly gets put on his back, but it ends up in neutral. 1-0 Doucet. Referee tells Doucet, who is having a fun time staring at Kueter, and Kueter, who just missed on a committed shot, that both guys need to create action, so that's fun. Doucet takes a semi shot, but that is all the action. 3rd Period: Kueter takes down. Lets see where his tank is at. Kueter has Doucet on his back! Oh, they only gave him the reversal? Are you serious? What the...wait, never mind, they did give him two nearfall. We might have seen Brands literally explode if they didn't give those nearfall. Kueter riding tough, and he looks solid! Big improvement from earlier this year! He just moves differently than most other heavyweights, which will make some (not like Kerkvleit or Hendrickson) uncomfortable. Kueter rides it out and he's your winner!
  22. Zach Glazier vs. Luke Surber Glazier can lock this dual up for Iowa AGAIN, which is pretty good for a guy Iowa was trying to keep on the bench. 1st Period: Man, some nice exchanges, and Glazier just stoned a very promising attack from Surber. Glazier is struggling to get to the single leg he's had a lot of success with so far this season. 0-0 into the second. 2nd Period: Surber rides tough for about 30 seconds, but then Surber is out. Glazier with a NICE attack, but Surber grabs a foot, and the action stalls out. 1-0 Surber into the third. 3rd Period: Glazier chooses bottom, and here we go...weird scramble, and the ref gives a LOT of grace to Surber as he was on his back! Good God, man, that was a reversal and NF, but the ref just gives Glazier 1 escape! Glazier in again, and a WILD scramble ensues, but Glazier comes out! A rare Iowa win in a scramble situation! Iowa locks it up!
  23. Gabe Arnold vs. Dustin Plott Whoa! He's going! Very interesting! Lets see how he stacks up against the top of the weight class...Plott is a volume attacker and Arnold is EXTREMELY stingy on defense. One thing's almost certain, Gabe will get hit for stalling in this match! 1st Period: Early on Plott is the more aggressive man, but Arnold is taking shots, although neither guy has really committed to anything. Some nice exchanges, and Plott pulls out the now seemingly OK State patented Ric Flair Eye poke! Plott gets in and finishes. He manages to hold maintain top position, though it was a dicey proposition. 2nd Period: Plott out quickly. He's in DEEP on another double but holy crap, how did Arnold get out of that? Incredible defense, but he needs to find his way to some points....Arnold rightfully warned for stalling (called it!) and not much else happens, and we're off to the third. 3rd Period: Arnold takes down. I assume Plott will try to ride to get riding time, then cut and look for the major. Plott not DOING anything on top, but he's maintaining position. Now the ref calls him for stalling, and it's as nonsensical as the one they called on Caliendo. Plott was out to the side at the moment it happened., and now he's cutting to look for the major, but it's hard to see that happening with Arnold's defense. And nothing happens. I think this solidifies for me that Arnold should stay in redshirt. He's too small for 184, IMO.
