  1. He had 9 losses that year. He lost to guys like Matthew Zovistoski, Sam Speno, and Laike Gardiner.
  2. Now do the next year. You're just arbitrarily dismissing facts you don't like. The next year, he went 2-1 against the guys who would be the finalists the following year.
  3. What? Lugo having one upset win doesn't change who he was that year. He had 9 losses, mostly to non-luminaries. He went from that to #1 ranking m, 1 loss, and beating guys like Sasso and Austin O'Connor. To say he didn't greatly improve at Iowa is a bananas take.
  4. No, I'm proving time matters. And nobody is arguing that Iowa is better than PSU right now. What, do you want just all the wrestlers to be at PSU and every match is just an intrasquad? Why do you hate the sport and want it to die?
  5. ... no he didn't. They wrestled at B1Gs that year and Eierman won 6-5. The 12-4 match was 3 years before that.
  6. Eierman plateaued but Lee only beat him in overtime. Honestly, you're saying words without any thought or logic behind them because you're so eager to dunk on Iowa. If you're going to be a troll, you need to at least be funny.
  7. Fair counter. Like I said, we'll see. I said it before, i love Mesenbrink, wish he was a Hawk.
  8. You're right on both counts, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.
  9. I agree. It's lame, but it's one of those things... I'm not sure what can be done about it. He will hurt himself at some point doing that.
  10. Ok.... but he won a lot of matches against Desanto by similar scores to Ayala-Davis, except Desanto was, you know, constantly shooting. He just couldn't solve RBY's defense. Davis' plan seems to.have been to try to knock Ayala out and run around him?
  11. I literally said in the post you quoted that I was not saying I would predict it. I think guys are freaked out before the match because of the pace. Now that he's felt it and didn't melt, he'll feel more comfortable. Similar thing happened with Desanto.
  12. Certainly possible. Mesenbrink is great. I think it's more likely to narrow as people feel his pace. Like I said, Caliendo was still attacking late. We'll see.
  13. Except RBY wasn't shooting with one arm behind his back. He was keeping his arm away from Desanto until he was ready to shoot.
  14. It's just a weird narrative. People only compare Iowa to Penn State, but coming up short of Penn State is then treated like they're Oklahoma. Notably, many of these transfers are still hanging around postgrad.
  15. I dunno? More than Davis who just kept hitting him in the head and face and didn't particularly try to take a shot.
  16. Did Ayala not get a TD? How'd he get so many points?
  17. Looked like Davis got plenty of shots at Ayala's face.
  18. Eierman and Woods had their highest placements ever at Iowa, both 1 seeds. Just didn't happen in the last match, and lost close matches to great opponents. Teske was never an AA anywhere else.
  19. Any way, as predicted, not a ton of fun in general (for me; I'm sure the PSU fans are loving it). Some tough wrestling from Ayala (btw, WTF did Davis do to his face), Rathjen, Caliendo, Kennedy, Riggins, and Glazier. Horseshoes and hand-grenades, though. Ass whooping.
  20. Nah. I just went back and watched it. After the big mat return, BK worked his way to his base at 1:35. GK has not left BK's hips. BK is stuck in the base (GK behind him putting downward pressure on him). GK break him down at 1:21. Stall call at 1:17.
  21. People are weird.
  22. Exhibit A on the weird stalling calls going both ways. What is Kerkvleit doing on top to get a stall call? Nothing. ETA: I'm ok with the refs being aggressive with stalling. Notably, this ref has not been waiting until the third to hit guys.
  23. It's still very possible that Kueter is the postseason guy.
  24. Kueter is going to gas so hard here, lol.
