Duke looked amazing at Big 10s majoring Cannon and Taylor.  Who could actually take him out at NCAAs?

I have a short list:

1. Taylor - he did it once already

2. Cannon - but only if back close to 100%  Can he get there before NCAAs?

3. Shapiro - this match would be awesome to see with both of their crazy aggressive tyles

4. Larkin? Haven't watched him this year but heard he's really good.

5. Robideau?  Also haven't watched him but know he has a super aggressive style.

6. Cam Catrabone - scored multiple TDs on Duke in the dual.

Anyone else?

Prolly nobody this year.  Swisher just beat Shapiro so he probably deserves mention as much as your 2 - 6 nominees.

So how will 157 get seeded?

Are Chuck Norris jokes still cool?

Doesn't matter I don't think Chuck can hang these days with Duke.

75% chance against the field Duke wins it all.

Chuck is 85 years old.  Hard to believe he's older than both Biden and Trump.

No one if he wrestles like he did at Big 10s. Robideau is built in the same mold but PJ is stronger. He’s clearly better than Cannon. Taylor only has one way to win and the margins there are very slim. Shapiro possibly but he’ll need to bring more to the table than he did this weekend.

And to think I came to the forum today to escape politics safe space ruined 😂

The list is shorter than you think.

Shapiro

Cannon (if he is 100%)

The rest are not impossible, but very low probabilities.  If Taylor can catch him in his body lock and get him to his back, he can stall out the rest of the match and win.  Duke was ready for his blast double this time.

That is a good list. PJ needs to bring his A game. If he wrestles aggressively, like he did at the Big 10s, he will have a good shot at the top of the podium.

Joe Sealey. That is it. Duke gonna roll to a title.

When Swisher beat Sealey many made it like Sealey lost to a middling type wrestler. I hope Swisher's win over Shapiro has changed that sentiment.

I don't see Duke losing any time soon.

Depends which version of PJ shows up. The PJ of the Big Ten finals and most of the year, probably doesn’t lose to anyone on the list. The PJ of Taylor1.0 and Catrabone, maybe Williams, could drop a close semi to any on the list.
PJ will be the #1 seed, after that it’s interesting because so many of the top kids rolling into Qualifiers dropped matches (Shapiro, Taylor, Robideaux), Larkin I think has most of his matches at 149, so that’s gonna hurt him in the formula. Cannon’s time off due to injury also probably causes some formula issues (it did at Bigs). 2-4 seeds will be interesting but hopefully moot because PJ rolls into Cleveland dialed in and ready.

How is Cael keeping Sealey? He is beating Kasak pretty easily from what I hear and losing 2 out of three to Duke. That makes Sealey the #2 wrestler in the nation. I know he had some major injury last year. Some are saying it was mental health but now he is back at 100%. He has three years left. It is unthinkable how someone like that may never start?

Yes forgot about all these experts on here saying that. I said it then and will say it again Sealey is the 2nd best 157 lbs guy in the nation. The reason I am high on Sealey is because before the injury I have seen him beat Mesenbrink twice, Lockett, Nicco Ruiz, and SV loss to Ferrari and others. He was in same bracket as my son when he beat Mesenbrink at Super 32 his senior year. Swisher hammered #3 ranked Shapiro last weekend! So why is Sealey staying in happy valley? Even the world champ backups love it there. Crazy!

I've never, ever heard anyone say that Joe Sealey beats Kasak, let alone "easily".

Kasak is also 2-0 vs Taylor.

I think saturday night, with all that time after weigh ins to get all the weight back on, there's no one in the country right now that beats PJ, just look at how good he looked in the b1g finals. I think sometime earlier in the tournament, when he has the next days weigh in to manage for, and multiple matches to worry about, is when somebody can get him

All you guys were on here saying 2-1 loss to Duke was a fluke and training partner syndrome type stuff. Sealey is the #2 ranked 157 in my mind in the nation behind Duke. Yes from what I have heard he beats Kasak and that gap is only going to increase. Now Cael won't let me video in the room so I guess that can't be fully proven.

So in all honesty how can PSU keep possibly 3 NCAA champs on the roster a same weight. How? I really would like to know this.

Thought Webster looked good at the Big 10's.  Certainly was not overwhelmed by Duke in the 4-2 loss.

True but look at that 2nd match with Taylor. Duke is feeling good. I think some can keep it close but the true freshman is gonna have some close ones against these physically stronger older guys!

It's too bad PJD wasn't born a bit earlier. Was talking with a fan over the weekend about how fun it would be if PJ Duke competed against IMar, Cenzo, Marinelli, etc.

No one beats the Duke of Hazard.

He does not respect his elders; same with a few other freshmen this season.

Larkin v Taylor in a semi could be interesting.

I might be crazy but webster looked like the considerably larger guy that match, maybe just a height/length thing? for one of them being a 49 last year and one wrestling 170 for his high school season and being the biggest 70kg around, webster gave him some good physicality

Sealey and Kasak had a common opponent last year. The results were drastically different. This year is this year, but I find that very hard to believe and haven’t seen or heard anyone say that. I would bet against Sealey AA’ing at 157

Should be a really fun weight to watch in any event.  Would it be really surprising if Shapiro fund a way to beat Duke?

Cornell has at least three guys who could make a run to the finals.
