If you read the actual posts though, I'm mostly just making fun of how dumb you idiots are. I never cared much (even though I agree in principle that they shouldn't be allowed to play) whether transgenders play in the WNBA or other female leagues. 

I DO support the freedoms of companies and sports organizations to make their policies regarding restrooms and sports participation and not have big brother fed government dictate everything to them. 

It's called freedom, and its called the Constitution.

Not sure what you're trying to say about the 'information they store'. Why does this matter? Why is it bad or wrong? What changes should I make to my definition to address it? 

Puberty can happen as young as 5 years old. We can all agree these are not women, right? Even up to the age of 18 or older some would not qualify as a 'woman' in my mind. I think maturity beyond just the physical is what makes an adult. But this works more to support my point that gender is not strictly defined and changes based on culture and how it is categorized by the individuals that make up the culture. 

It seems that you are trying to interject 'emotion' into this conversation. Emotion is involved, of course. But its not used exclusively to come to conclusions, necessarily. And as we have determined, neither are chromosomes. 

Answer to your question: a woman is a woman regardless of hardware. 

Let's go back to the XX, XXY and so on, if a person has a Y gene but all the hardware that is typically associated with a XX person, how would you categorize them? 

Why does hardware matter with regard to how someone categorizes themselves?

Obsession? Probably not in the way you're thinking. Some of, just by sheer percentage, probably are. But I won't make that assumption about this cohort. 

But yes, a penis is an easy thing to focus the conversation on because everyone knows what they are and what we've been taught that they represent. Everyone has their own interpretation or schema about what a penis or penises represent. 

 

Some use them to instill fear in hopes of gaining support. 

 

But lets not jump to conclusions. We were having a cordial conversation and it went off the rails in just a matter of minutes.

All definitions are made up and they change(hint, literally literally no longer means literally). 

Definitions are not prescriptive(determinative of how a word MUST BE used). But how a word is CURRENTLY used. If you insist on using an old definition that no longer applies then you are choosing to not live in the world as it is, currently.

I think you misunderstand what it is we are talking about. Its not just how a person feels about themselves in a vacuum. It also encompasses those things that THAT person feels is associated with a category. In this case man/woman. Those categories don't really change from day to day. 

Do you entirely change your mind about what characteristics something must or mustn't have to be categorized as a dog? No. 

Or a car? No.

A man? No. 

A woman? No. 

You might add or subtract things here and there but 100% shift. That doesn't happen. 

The CATEGORY is the issue and how a person feels they fit into it. If it represents who they feel they are. THAT is gender. The parts we're born with are sex. And the parts we're born with can be found both in XX and XY people. So what good is it to say that X or Y is the sole factor in determining anything? And especially why it should be used to exclude people from a category? 

And since you've provided no sources or science why should this definition be used because it is purely based on emotion?
