Could be.  Do you take him out of rs before he transfers.  Its possible folks are going up in weight next.  I think David has a plan.

I could see Jax and Vega moving up next year which would give Ronnie a year to fight for the 133 spot.

I'm sure he does.  He knew exactly what is going to do with Jax before he even showed up on campus.  As for the plan for Ramirez, I'm sure that is part of the plan.  Jax wrestles, Ronnie redshirts, or vice versa.  Figs not working probably mean DT is on plan B.  Hard to predict the future without knowing who is has trouble making weight or who can grow into the next weight, or what the ideal weights are for Raneys a year from now.  Sooner or later there is one extra guy.

Which brings up a question, how easily does Jax make weight?   He seems crazy tall (and still strong) for 133, but he made 61kgs through the summer.

There was a discussion on Flo about how it be great if they listed guys' heights.   Would have been cool to compare Strickenberger and Hendriksen for their dual.  Is Jax 6'?

I would guess he is 5'9" or so.

I predict we’ll get our answer when he does or doesn’t come out for a 6th date. Season is already winding down, we’ll know soon.

Think Fri might be the answer to your questions.  He is not needed on Fri but is on Sunday for ISU and last dual in Feb for Iowa.  If he wrestles Fri he's prob trying to build RPI which is only needed for ...

Personally hoping to see him against Va Tech (Siedel)

so you think it’s a safe bet he’s not redshirting then?

Well he went Fri, so you’re probably gonna be right. That was his last date right? That was 5?
Boy 133 is gonna be a meat grinder. We’re gonna see a few matches on Thursday night that would historically be quarters or semis at most weights most years. Wow!

That was 4.  If he goes Sunday that’s 5 but you know they’re going to use him against Iowa so I’d have to agree with Ionel that he’s not redshirting, unless they don’t use him Sunday.

There was talk last year of redshirting Plott, Hamiti, and Hendrickson for a better team this year.  Likewise, there was talk of redshirting each of the true freshmen this year for a more loaded, more experienced team next year.  Every indication is that David Taylor seeks to field the best team he has against the best competition he can get.  I think that was John Smith’s goal, too.

I think DT has to realize he’s not winning this year, but maybe momentum and improving placement year over year are key goals to keep driving recruiting etc?? But hey, if the kids are ready to go and want to go, put them out there! You never know!

Fair point, but if they have hopes of winning it next year, wouldn't it be better to get one big dance under his belt first?

I don’t think they’re winning next year either but hey, if the kids ready (which he obviously is) and he wants to go, put ‘em out there. I think positive momentum and increasing point totals and placements at nationals goes a long way towards the year when they finally are a title contender (2028, maybe 2029).

They’re not winning but Forrest probably bumps them up a few places and makes them very likely for a trophy as opposed to questionable without him

How very unCarl-like of him

I don't believe DT ever thought OSU could win it this year. No delusions of grandeur. Taylor, above everyone else knows what PSU brings...

He has F or RSFR at 133, 141, 157, 165, 184 and 197. Plus these cats coming, No. 4 Dreshaun Ross (285), No. 5 Jordyn Raney (149), No. 6 Jayden Raney (133), and #36 Michael White (184/197).

On the stream they said Friday UNI and Sunday ISU only counted as one date. I was not aware of that can anyone confirm?

They are incorrect but there's a chance that the Cyclone Open doesn't count as a date since it was in the second semester and freshmen may attend unattached.

He doesn't need or want to enter unattached.

Don’t you have to declare that at the tournament?

Even if he was unattached and he ended up not redshirting, the matches would still count for seeding right?  If so, IMO it probably would have made sense to enter unattached just to give him the most possible dates in case he got injured on the fifth date or something (I guess I “got a plan or somethin”)

From what I know, which is literally nothing at all. Jax entered the cyclone open attached. Uni and isu were separate dates as it was not a triangular. So they must have had that wrong. After today his next match, I believe will burn his redshirt. I don't know nothing at all tho

Full of un-bias blasphemy.
