After watching a bunch of Antrell Taylor's matches this year I'm curious where other people's thoughts are on this.

What is more likely Antrell Taylor wins a 2nd title this year or doesn't even AA. I am honestly leaning towards he doesn't AA which seems crazy to think that way about a defending champ.

I think he struggles with weight cuts. Imo. Which is why he looks off sometimes, that said I feel like he is still more likely win a natty, than not AA

If it is weight cuts that are causing the inconsistencies then I am even more firm in the opinion of more likely non AA since he'd have to string together multiple same day wins while also keeping his weight under control for the next days weight in

157 goes at least 10 deep.  Probably the deepest weight so if Taylor isn't on his game in March, it would be very easy for him to not AA.

idk how deep 157 actually is. I feel like there are 6 guys that are for sure AAs and then a bunch that will fight for the final 2 spots

Ya I can see the concern there. He was able to do it last year. When he was coming down from 165 the previous year and didn't have any issues tho

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

Antrell just had his 3rd consecutive father figure in his life die in an untimely and tragic manner a week and a half ago.  Since then he's pancaked and pinned 2 ranked opponents.  His late match heroics won the dual tonight for his team. The only wrestler I can think of who has experienced what he has would be Jason Tsirtsis, and most of you saw his final AA finish at ASU as a testament to his resilience.  It's remarkable that Trelly is out there making weight and competing right now without any time off.  IMHO he's off-limits right now as far as criticizing his wrestling.

That’s awful. I understand that wrestling is life to these D1 athletes, but I hope he’s encouraged by those around him to take some time off (even if it’s a short amount of time) to grieve.

Thats a strong young man to go through all that and still be competing at a high level.

Things broke perfectly for him last year to win the title, good for him. Don't see it happening again. Tough times with the personal loss, can't imagine going through that and competing at this level.

His natural athletic ability is the best in the field. When its crunch time, he can really turn it on like nobody else at 157. When he pushes to score he scores.

Wow. That is tough. Hope he can find some peace and meaning through this. Thanks for posting.

He looks good to me, he just beat Rhobideau and had a nice comeback pin over the Minnesota kid.  Scored when he wanted to.  Kid is a dog!

His title last year was kinda flukey. Kasak brain fart of a matc against Purdue Blaze, removed the favorite from the championship side of the bracket. Given what Kasak did to Taylor in their 2 matches. This year I’m leaning Duke. And then there’s Shapiro and Cannon in Taylor’s way. I think he AAs, but no title. Next season Kasak is back, Shapiro and Cannon too? Too lazy to look up eligibility. Doesn’t bode well for Taylor over the next season or 2.

I don't think Robideau loses to Antrell again.  Robideau has his foot on the gas pedal all 7 minutes, now he knows Antrell's style (one or two explosive moves and then he resorts to being defensive and backing up) just like Bailey of Iowa!  You can even see that in Lockett as well.  It's eventually going to bit them all.

Antrell can repeat. Has more heart than most the field, he may take a few more losses this year, but I'm putting my money on him or Cardenas in March.

Doesn’t AA, I said last year he’s the worst ncaa champ in the past 8 years

You were wrong then and youre wrong now. Richard Figgy Baby Figueroa had a worse season and won and has fallen into the deepest obscurities hes not even a starter.
