Shouldn’t we work to give the next generation better than we did?

Or screw them. I struggled so you must struggle as much or more.

I hope you understand how destructive and selfish that is. Thinking like this will keep us from improving because you don’t think YOU will benefit enough to justify it. I’m not interested in talking with selfish people like you.

It is not my responsibility to pay for people’s bus travel.  Period.

besides.  The local state and federal government are beyond inefficient.   Figure out how to run the city on what you have instead of increasing taxes on everything every year.   Stop spending $$ on nonsense.

Escape from New York, 2025 Millionaire Edition

NYC’s highest earners are fleeing, along with $14 billion in gross income. An evacuating tax base risks taking the city’s prestige with it — to Florida.

When they desperately want to come back, I hope he charges a coward tax.

It’s part of their waste.  Stop wasting money and asking your base for more.  The rich already pay the vast majority of taxes.

So we agree. Mass amnesty. Then they can work and contribute and pay into the system. Or is you knee jerk reaction to pull up the ladder on everyone because you’re spiteful of your situation? Ya probably that. Not many people who went through tough times wish it upon others unless they have some trauma to deal with. I sense you fall into that category.

Do better.

We don’t agree.    Americans voted to have the illegals deported.    My family emigrated here legally.  Get in line.   Do it right.

breaking the rules to get here should not get you an advantage over those that follow the rules.

If you pay $5 but get $6 of realized or unrealized benefits from it what is the problem? You’re getting a benefit and benefitting others. Why is it bad?

’Too poor’ that is an ignorant thing to think let alone say out loud(type). Don’t take this as an attack but saying something like that as a 100% truism as a point for your opinion is not a good tactic.
Lack of disposable $ for transportation will limit options to jobs, education, food. Please prove me wrong without mentioning ‘common sense’ or ‘vibes’?

Everyone has problems. The US Welfare system is broken, plain and simple. People on full assistance have nicer things than my kids. You go to Dunbar High in Fort Myers, and all you see are kids wearing Jordans, using iPhones, and so on. Of course, not all kids have that, but come on, you are choosing to ignore the reality that our systems are broken.

When you all realize that neither side has a vested interest in you succeeding, you can start to do things for yourself.

You are acting as though no transportation programs exist.  Nearly all major cities and most states have (TAP) programs in place, and numerous non-profit organizations, such as the United Way, exist to remove the barriers you keep putting up for people.

Do me a favor and dial 211 on your phone right now..

Liar. The good old reagan "welfare queen" myth.  You can masquerade as the voice of reason all you want.  But you are still largely full of crap.

Two examples:

1.   I have a friend that is on welfare, mostly because he is really physically not able to do much.   My son ran a company that my friend could  manage (and he has that experience).   So I got them together.   It was later in the season so here was not much more work to go but the concern was he needed to make so  much to be able to not have to get his welfare  money.   Since it was the end of season he would not be able to afford things because welfare would cut him off and he wouldn't make enough to last until the next season.   According to V, there is something broken in welfare.   I agree.

2.  I worked with a guy back in the mid 80s so this is a long time ago.   He had a wife and a kid and wanted to just do the menial work he did for this plastering company in Phoenix.   Why?   If he made more, he would go off of welfare.   There was more to be made but he didn't want it.

Welfare does not encourage work at all.   That is one of the bad things about it.

I am pretty easy going but that was kind of an aggressive dick head move, but each their own.

This is called ‘pulling up the ladder’.

Employers benefit from people being able to afford to travel to their businesses to work. If you make a claim to the contrary, prove it!

More of the same ‘if you don’t like it leave’. Thank you for your input. But thought stoppers are not welcome here.

in the old days... the company housed its workers, built them a town, and built them roads to get to work.

democrats didn't like that either

Do you think the ‘job creators’ that will pay the bulk of the tax will benefit from a larger and better and more diverse pool of employees?

probably.

now. lets talk about taxes... do you think that lowering tax rates will also create more spending.. from these same people... which will create more tax money even tho rates went down.

i bet you have said no to this many times in the past.

so are you saying people are weaker than they used to be?

b/c if they can't help themselves... like we did..

how much more will we have to do and continue to add to every couple of years...
