Their peso will most likely lose all value and inflation will engulf the country.  Argentina is South Americas third largest economy so will impact the region too.

I don’t know much about macroeconomics, but this was called an exchange.  Supposedly we bought $20 billion dollars worth of pesos with dollars, which made the pesos worth more than we paid for them.   Bessent said it didn’t cost us anything and won’t.  They have a special fund for doing these exchanges, so I guess it’s not that unusual.

China did something similar for Argentina awhile back.  Difference is now it’s a capitalist country and not a communist one.

It is the same thing as has been said.   If this prevents Argentina from going leftist, then that would be a good thing.   If this costs us nothing, then that is a good thing.   

But blowing money is not a great thing.   It appears this won't cost anything.  So I am not against it.

When people thought it'd be a good idea to elect a profitable businessman as President, you get a profitable businessman who keeps making profits - just faster and in higher volume because of his newfound status as President.

Profitable businessman aren't civil leaders. They specialize in making profits for themselves. This should surprise nobody.

Bezos, Musk, Trump, etc. aren't in it to make the economy better for all of us... they're purely in it for them.

Argentina engaged in one of the most radical "free-market" experiments in world history and it's failing miserably and now requires government intervention to save. I'm sure you all will learn an important lesson here....
