Almost all political speak is rehearsed party specific rhetoric.   Politicians are trash. All of them.  All parties.

I don't disagree with that. Other than that, not 'all' politicians are trash - but certainly most of them recently.

Most.  I’m sure one here or there isn’t but it doesn’t seem that way.   I bet the good ones are drowned by the bad ones

I also agree with you there.

But I don't blame the politicians - I blame the election system.

It seems to me that if the voters could REALLY get a good look at who the candidates are, that we'd do a much better job of electing the right people.

What we're faced with right now is elections that are all about lies and the big money ads to push those lies. And big money backers who have too much money and not enough smarts to not put their fat fingers on the scale.

I do - but I like to call him 'eyepatch guy from Texas' because it's colorful and everybody knows who I'm referring to.

So he has no trash in him at all?

You're expecting perfection from politicians? Are you expecting perfection from your wife, kids, friends?

That is a fool's errand.

None of us are perfect. Best we can do is to seek out those that are the least imperfect before giving them power and authority.

Eyepatch guy is up there with some of the least imperfect as far as I have seen (no pun intended.)

Power hungry people will always seek to be atop the political : governmental : ruling class.   It really doesn’t matter the type of government.   It’s how it works.  It’s how it’s worked for centuries

it doesn’t mean some governments are better than others.  We’re the best country in the world.

That is also true.

Power hungry people seek it - but democracy is all about keeping them from achieving it. Otherwise, our democracy will turn into something other than a democracy. Something where the power-hungry leaders rule with an iron fist over those with little to no power. Democracy is all about the will of the people, not about the will of the power-hungry.

We are the best country in the world... but if we become something other than a democracy, then we won't be. That would be a very sad day.

Incentivizing graduation rate would degrade academic integrity.

Instead, incentivize schools to produce financially self-sufficient graduates.  E.G. Based funding on the percentage of graduates who are not enrolled in government assistance programs within 12 months of graduation that are also paying income taxes.

A total of 2,015 Harvard University students entered loan repayment in 2017. After three years, 0.8% of these students (17 out of 2,015) defaulted on their loans.

Excuse me if I don't believe you.  It's low I'll grant you  but not zero.

Do not believe me. Instead believe the official cohort default rates published by the department of education:

Without even trying.  So Harvard does lie.  Got it.

You did not even try to find out because it doesn't conform to your preconceived notion.

The source is not Harvard. The source is the Department of Education who tracks this data. Now, if you want to argue that Linda MacMahon is liar I would respond that it is more likely she is just dumb. One of yours.

The department of Education doesn’t ever lie huh?!!!  It’s corrupt as f&$k and has taken us from being the smartest country on the planet to kids being unable read or write.  You go ahead and trust them though. 🤦‍♂️
