Didn't Otto have criteria?

Why didn't Black have criteria there with the later score?

Good question, maligned... I thought of that as well.

But I seemed to recall a discussion (or rule change) about passivity being rewarded (if tied like this match) to the offensive wrestler that causes that call to his opponent.

Normally, one would have figured, since Black scored last, that he would get criteria.

Somebody who has a better grasp in that subject please step in and ad some clarity here.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The Mat's summary article insinuates that getting your opponent put in par terre first is the criteria in this case. I'm wondering if it's only the tiebreaker in these really common 1-1 decisions in Greco. (I'm imagining, for example, that in a 2-2 decision, where both had a step-out and both had a passivity point, we revert to the "final point wins" criteria?)

I was thinking along that direction... tanxs for that, maligned (you're not so "maligned" for that. 😏 )

And by the way... Black is pulled into repechage, thanks for the Egyptian winning his semifinal bout!

AND... that VERY criteria that we just talked about, happened just now w/ the other 67Kg semifinal.

UWW wrestler lost 1-1 criteria to the Georgian because the Georgian was awarded the point and par terre first due to passivity called against the UWW wrestler.

Wow!

For Greco they changed the rule this year that first point scored is criteria.

In all situations, or only when passivity is the only scoring?

He's very much in the medal mix tomorrow. The Egyptian struggled to win 1-1 and 3-3 over the tough Dane and Kazakh that have to face each other in the first repechage round--but Otto obviously gets to rest and face the winner. Then the Hungarian he'd face for bronze later in the evening was the only guy the Egyptian beat "cleanly" at 4-0.

Oh, by the way... Jacobson won the bronze w/ a 5-3 dec. over the Azerbaijani wrestler.

US U23 Greco isn't going to be shut out on the podium!

That’s a good question but I believe it is first point across the board. Not 100% sure now that you mention it.

From a very reputable source: only for passivity.  Once score goes past 1-1, it goes back to last point scored.
