The threads on this forum and the Iowa forum about the perceived lack of respect by Penn State fans for Spencer Lee (Iowa fans are absolutely bewildered that Spencer wasn't given a standing ovation by the Penn State faithful) made me think of Coach Cael Sanderson.

This man is the only undefeated NCAA D1 wrestler, ever.  159-0 4x champ.  Olympic Gold Medalist. The most successful coach in college wrestling currently.  He wrestled in the state of Iowa.  By all accounts he is an upstanding man, father and coach.

Yet Hawkeye fans regularly refer to him as Carl, Bael, Kale and other juvenile misspelling of his names to show him disrespect.  What is the reason for this?  And how can they criticize Penn State fans with a straight face for not giving Spencer Lee a standing ovation during a dual meet when every mention of Coach Sanderson, an undisputed American hero, is filled with such vitriol and disrespect?

Also why I’m on this topic did Iowa ever give Cael Sanderson a standing ovation? Iowa fans are big mad PSU fans didn’t give a rival wrestler a standing ovation. Talk about snowflakes.

Everyone gave Cael a standing O when he won #4/159, there were a lot of Iowa fans in attendance.
