October 1. I want to take a moment to recognize the vegetarians out there and thank them. They do all of us a great service. First, they are looking out for their own health. With the u.s. having pretty much the highest obesity rate and worst health outcomes among developed nations, vegetarians are a shining example that we can all work toward. They help lower all of our health insurance rates and overall costs.  Second, they cut down on the ridiculous greenhouse gasses thar are emitted from poultry, cow and pig farms. Lastly, they're generally smart, good and educated people.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE!!

I actually don't eat a lot of meat. I do consume a lot of milk, eggs and whey though.

Yup. I'm not a vegetarian myself but I have a lot of respect and admiration for them. It's pretty simple.

Its easy to be a non believer when you’re alive but it won’t be when you die.

You do realize that a salad can have more calories than a steak correct?

However the gasses may be offset:

A vegetarian diet can lead to more gas, because plant-based foods are high in fiber and certain complex carbohydrates that take time for your body to digest.

I enjoyed reading this while sitting here with my regular steak and two eggs breakfast (well it's not always steak...sometimes its pork chops, sometimes its salmon....all depends on what I had for dinner the night before), at the desk of the job I obtained in large part due to my master's degree (that no one here paid for) and feeling pretty confident in it based on my recent annual physical and blood work.

Unfortunately, there are some so "educated" they apparently still believe in the tremendous lie that was the food pyramid. Not that I don't like veggies, in honor of today I will have some of the salsa that I smoked over the weekend while grilling said pork chops..

I think about 99 people out of 100 know that this is outdated. Veggies are still great. 4 servings IMO isn't very much. I go well beyond that. Tons of organic power greens and broccoli, among others.

Starches are 110% unnecessary and you can overdo it on fruits since they're high in sugar.

Sure thing, boss.  "Sugar" in fruits is so bad for you!

They don't teach you much about nutrition in rock polishing school?

You can consume too much. If you don't realize that, you're another winger idiot.

Especially important for wingers to know because so many of them are fat, and hence, pre-diabetic or diabetic.

I am not a dietician but I know that granulated sugar is different from natural sugar in fruit.

Dude has the balls to call others morons.

Novel concept. Too much of anything is bad. So glad I logged on for your incredible wisdom.

You can consume too much of anything, including water.

This is true.  People have died from drinking too much water while running a marathon, affects women more than men.

I think the slower people too, who have more time to sweat and drink more water throwing off their electrolyte balance.

I always alternated Gatorade v water every mile.  If missed a mile no big deal.

I'm not a vegetarian either... though I do like some vegetables.

(The late chef and show host Anthony Bourdain really didn't like vegetarians... mentioned in his book Kithcen Confidential ... a view that he softened later in his life.)

You sure about that? Or was it the fact that they didn't eat any food/electrolytes w/ the water?

I have a hard time imagining somebody drinking that much water DURING a marathon. Hard to run well when you gorge on water.
