Kind of a weird call. Azapira gets dinged for grabbing fingers. Didn't see him get warned at all and a point was rewarded to Kyle. Not an expert of the rulebook but would be interesting to know the language there for that rule

he was warned multiple times in the first period

and his grabbing of 1 finger seemed blatant enough that both the mat and side judges confirmed the violation

gotta be subtle w/ that type of thing

He was warned several times during the match to stop closing up/clamping on the fingers, and that was including in that.

Wow.

3 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze compared to 1 silver, 4 bronze in global events last year.

Very much headed back in the right direction.

Kyle Snyder just earned $50,000 to be Living The Dream and boosting the local economy of Zagreb tonight!

The call from Cael in an hour or so...

*RING RINGGGGG*

Kyle: Hey coach!
Cael: Hey, man.  Just wanted to be the first to tell you...
Kyle: Thanks man, but everyone here has...
Cael: ...NOT spend it on hookers and blow.
Kyle: ...
Cael:  I'm serious about this, Kyle.
Kyle: ...
Cael:  Nod if you understand me.

*Kyle nods*

Cael:  No hand the fone to Jamie

*hands fone to Jamie*

Cael:  Did he nod?
Jamie:  Who, Kyle?  No.
Cael: DAMNIT GIVE HIM THE FONE BACK!

*Jamie looks around... can't find him anywhere*

Jamie yells: Yo, where did Kyle go?
Random person:  Oh, him and Zadick were running out the doors together laughing and bouncing around
Jamie:  Damn.  Did you hear that?
Cael:  ...

*three seconds of silence*

Cael:  Damn it.

Definitely. We were spoiled by the JB/DT/Cox/Snyder generation.

Getting two first-time gold medalists, three first-time medalists, and two fifths that were ultra close to being first-time medalists--feels incredibly encouraging that we're in a good spot going forward.

Ok serious question now that the dust has settled:

Going into worlds, if someone says "you have to give up one of your golds but in return you can earn a medal at 65kg" how many of us would have taken that offer?

i am an idiot on the internet

We gave up two medals to get that medal at 65 KG, though.

Gold at 57 KG and Bronze at 125 KG.

It cost us the team title.

Honestly, were Specer or Pindrickson able to have broken through for a medal, we would have won it.  In a year that most other countries would have called us having a down year due to no Cox, no JB, no Dake, and no DT.

Nothing at 125 was locked and I'm bringing my receipts right wrong and indifferent. I thought DNP personally and unfortunately.

To be honest I don't think this era of 65 is as scary as it was in the past and getting a medal is much less daunting. Used to have some crazy podiums made up of Chamizo, Asgarov, Ramanov or in the cycle after with Rashidov, Otoguro, Bajrang, Aliyev and Musukaev. I don't put this era of 65 close to the past two.

Well, I was trying to not pile on and blame Lee/Iowa/Brands Bros.

But we can revert back to that.

I don't think there was an option to appeal. I think it was just an official complaint
