I got curious thinking about Doug Schwab's boys and the recruiting process. Are there (I'm sure there are) any instances of a college coaches children going on to wrestle for another program? It seems far more common for them to wrestle where their dad coaches, even if that means struggling to ever make the starting line-up (Jake Ryan, Sam Smith, Hayden Cunningham, etc.).

If the kid gets to attend a premier university and be part of a top program I’m sure several of them know what they are getting out of that decision. And I mean the fact the tuitions likely covered by the school since dads a school employee may helps the decision a little.  One less scholarship to worry about and you usually get a solid kid in the room.

If you get a Blue Chip kid that’s equal to or well above their dad’s room skill level I’d say that’s a more likely scenario to get out recruited.

John Clark was the head coach at St. Lawrence University.  His sons Mitch and John both wrestled at Ohio State.  St. Lawrence had dropped wrestling by the time John graduated high school.  Mitch could have attended St. Lawrence, but St. Lawrence was only D3 and the writing was probably on the wall for the program too.

Vougar Oroudjov is the wrestling coach at NCC.  His oldest son Nick wrestled at AU before transferring to Cornell.  His other son Vito wrestled at Cornell.  His youngest son George wrestles for Cornell.
