If it was just me, I would absolutely take Miller up on his offer of getting paid to live next to gang members.

Since you’ve now brought illegal immigrants into the conversation, I might as well mention that when I lived in one of the scary cities, I actually lived in the Hispanic area (who mostly kept to themselves), and about 2 blocks away from some seriously high-crime areas.  Obviously there is always risk, but as I’ve said previously, there is far less risk of something happening to you or your family if you’re not a gang member or buying/selling drugs (although of course innocent family members can fall victim because of what their family is involved in).  Me personally I never had any issues when I lived there, in fact my worst neighbor was the WT next door.

So you think you’re ten feet tall and bulletproof, but you realize the place is dangerous and your family would be vulnerable?

I honestly think you won’t name the “prior scary city” because it wasn’t a scary city.    And you definitely won’t name the current city because it’s a Lilly white affluent elite rich kid suburb.    Prolly on the east coast.

Baltimore.

I live in a suburb currently, but I wouldn’t call it Lilly white.   It’s about 20% black or Hispanic.

All my white successful liberal friends live in the burbs too.  This goes double for the foreigner / liberals.  And they lob condescending comments on social media at anyone who dares say Chicago is unsafe.   They’re not going back to the inner city though.

make sure you stay away from dope dealing though.  Nothing will happen to you

I didn’t “lob condescending comments at anyone who dares say Chicago is unsafe” though.  I specifically said cities have more crime.  I just think it’s dumb to think that the reason they have more crime is because of “liberal policies.”

Why do they have more crime?

Why would you win anything for being wrong?

What big cities are run by conservatives?

I’ve posted several times.   Chicago had the track record of sometimes not prosecuting gang related murders because they are something like “mutual combatants”.    How on earth is that style of DA good for the safety of the city.   Gang bangers have a 3009% chance of re offending.  It’s literally their job.   They don’t prosecute shop lifters.  They don’t prosecute teen take overs of the streets.  No more cash bail.  No more stop and search.

how can you think liberal policing curbs crime vs encouraging it ?   You never stipulate anything except.   Nope.   D mayors aren’t bad.   Give some facts.  Or opinions.   As you just snipe from the suburbs while people living in these cities don’t feel safe.

Combination of a high low income population + high population density.

And no, I wouldn’t blame “liberal policies” on why they’re low income either, unless we’re also okay with blaming Republican policies for why much of rural America is poor also (and also commonly has issues with substance abuse, child abuse, and/or domestic violence).

Population density.  With population density you have a number of factors.

The more people you have, the more people you are likely to have that are willing to commit crimes. Just a matter of numbers.

Hiding in plain sight.  If you have three people in a group, and one of them is f***ing up, that person is more likely to be seen than if they are 1 in a group of 100.  The idea you are less likely to get ‘caught’ will make some more willing to try to take the short route.

More targets.  If you don’t want to earn living and would rather rob people, are you going to choose a location that has 50,000 targets to choose from, or a compacted location that has five million?

There are a number of studies and publications that look over many many factors, these are just a few, but a great number of them stem around population density

And dont forget ... in rural areas you might have to go thru this:

If somebody is going to commit a crime, that isn't a consideration. Also a dog isn't going to deter a lot of people. It's more of a psychological thing.
