Steven Schmidt

Alan Fried

Teague Moore

Preston Weigel

I wrestled Schmidt, tough as hell. Fried beat Brands, that dude was a bad mofo. Teague is a stud today, he is back into recruiting, and Weigel...GQ that could ride legs. GREAT call here....

We've all heard different stories. Is this a guy -like Graig - who actually didn't like the sport?

I don't understand the question

Thanks! Those mid 90s OSU teams were the stuff of legends. I was a little kid in the stands every week just in absolute awe. It’s too bad there aren’t more recordings. Weigel of course was later and battled injuries but when he was healthy he was a tank.

You wrestled Schmidt? Have you recovered? Haha jk would love to hear more about your wrestling experience in general. The board benefits from hearing from athletes.

I wrestled some good ones, but he was honestly one of the most technical guys I had ever wrestled. Calm, never emotional, just tough and solid. Tuttle kid, and there was a big group that came through there that was tough as hell. Trent Londen, Head brothers, on and on. Back in the day, the Oklahoma open was THE tournament to go to. Open, and everyone went to it. I to this day LOVE Thanksgiving because of the food, back then I never got to eat it cuz I was cutting weight. I was pretty good, and held my own, but not the Schmidt level. Wrestled him a few times, worst was 4-5 best was by 2. No moral victories, but now that I am old, damn right I believe in moral victories...lol

The University of Nebraska-Omaha was another huge tournament right around Thanksgiving and I missed those Thanksgivings due to cutting weight. I love Thanksgiving now and eat way too much to make up for past missed meals.

Throwing another name in to this mix that those from only my state may be familiar with:

Nazar Kulchytskyy.

Moved to WI from Ukraine.  Beat D. Ness several times. Couldn’t compete in high school.

Stuck around WI and won 3x d3 titles @ Oshkosh.

Always a presence on the senior scene.

Ben Altman (Davidson)

I wrestled this guy a few times in middle/high school, even beat him at least once.  Didn’t even know he wrestled at Davidson

This is a good one.

I do believe Mason wrestled a couple years but definitely underachieved. Was part of the awesome Blair high school team with Medina, Shannaman (sp?), Platt, etc.

Mason was a 3x NQ at least, and also wrestled for a while on the Senior Level.

I think he’s a club coach now including for Anthony Knox, and has a shoe company (the ones Sebastian Rivera wore at the Olympics)
