Jax is really good and that is good news for the future of American wrestling.

Also, Vito is not himself and so it is hard to know just how good Jax is.

It's sad when stuff like this comes in after the fact.

I really like both but I'm going to go with Jax. Since OKST and Jax are going to be sanctioned soon, forcing Jax to give up the world team spot, it will be hilarious to watch Jax and OKST sue to reverse the decision, effectively replaying, but inverting, the roles from the Yianni suit a few years ago

What are you talkin about?

I'm gonna guess Jax comes out and wins a commanding match. He'll get a few more TDs and kinda extend the gap in this match...

(I didn't think that at all, I thought Vito would win).

Isn't it a parroting of Nickal saying OKST is doing illegal things...

I did not think Vito outside of cardio looked vastly different from his best early. He was still super-fast. I think it is important to remember a less than 100% vito was still clearly the second-best guy in the world last year and Ono is not competing so I think Jax has a very real shot at winning a world title. Suda is very good from Japan but he beat Mongush whos best weight is 57kg 8-7 and has one or two other criteria wins this year. Uguev and Haryutunan are probably the other two big threats and Kyrgyzstan and India will be good.

Yeah, I didn't word that very well. the joke was that Jax would beat Vito but would lose the spot because of recruiting violations (this is where the rumors about OKST RTC breaking rules comes into play). Jax and OKST then sue USA wrestling to reverse the decision, which I think would be funny because that would make it the 2nd time that Cornell was involved in a suit regarding a world team spot

I had the same opinion. His body language was terrible when coming back to center and when they were apart, but in the actual wrestling exchanges he looked like his normal self. I hope he can get back to feeling like his normal, confident self

It's been known that Vito is hurt.

They wrestled yesterday because he requested a delay because he was hurt (you have to submit medical documents when you request a delayed wrestleoff - reasoning, etc.).

I have to disagree, he seemed very reluctant to scramble and didn't fight the first counter TD much that Jax got in the opening match.

Plus this is hard for me to explain as I'm not a technique expert, but look at his left arm the entire time in neutral - he barely wants to use it or engage with it.  He only does when Jax forced him to lock up - it's just always bent at his side.   I feel like everything was precipitated from his right arm and right side.

Sure he was still quick and maybe I'm seeing what I want to see, but it was pretty clear to me that Vito was avoiding certain positions and scrambles the entire time.  He was not letting the fur fly as he normally does, I don't think he just hard gassed out.

I am going to have to watch the matches again now! I know that he often does that palm up elbow to his belly button thing in his stance, but he does usually hit drags to the left side, and I cannot recall off memory if he did that.

I will say and this happened on May 28th so a lot could have changed. However right after they announced the delay, he posted clips of him just violating Knox in live goes. So, unless he had a setback he was at least at a level where he was killing one of our better young guys. (in a practice room and it could have been after hard training so grain of salt)

OK, well I could certainly be wrong about how he uses his left arm - maybe that's his normal stance, like I said I don't know technique well.  Seems really weird though, like he was avoiding to use it.

I only watched the second match and felt that he had some difficulty pulling legs in off of shots.  I immediately felt that he might be having some weakness in his extremities as a result of the neck injury.

I am not sure what injury Vito has or had, but I am sure this was an intentional strategy. Jax hits his dump and his slide by when his opponent reaches with his left hand. Don’t think he hit either one so good coaching and good strategy. Jax isn’t one dimensional though, so he still found a way to get the job done.

You could absolutely be correct. He has said before that because of his herniated disc he sometimes has issues raising his arm.
