The Big Fat Ugly Bill that the president (of similar proportions) signed today includes allocating $85 million to move the Discovery Space Shuttle from the Smithsonian to Texas - and to construct a facility to house it.

No wonder Elon is mad as a hatter. Let's do the math. He had to fire the equivalent of some 100,000 people to regain 10 years of their combined future salary to generate this much money. Money that he thought was intended to be used to pay down the US debt.

Elon was simply conned. There was never any intention of paying down the debt by the Trump administration. It was always about giving the ultra-wealthy, who funded Trump's campaigns, the biggest tax cuts in history. While increasing taxes on the low to middle income groups.

All while increasing the US deficit by trillions of dollars over the next decade.

So much for paying down the debt. We're going in the opposite direction of that. And Musk is, understandably, PO'd.

In fact, in an email to FactCheck.org, James Pritchett, the director of public and media communications at the National Archives and Records Administration, confirmed that the Obama Presidential Center will be a “private entity” and “will not receive any funding from the National Archives.” NARA operates the other presidential libraries, but it will not operate the Obama library

  • Public Funding for Infrastructure: Illinois taxpayers are contributing nearly $200 million for infrastructure improvements related to the center. This includes $174 million for roadwork in and around Jackson Park and $50 million for renovations to the Garfield Green Line station, with half of the station's renovation costs covered by a federal grant

  • Federal Reimbursements: A significant portion of the state's expenditure on these infrastructure projects is expected to be reimbursed by the federal government. Reports indicate that at least $139 million—about 80% of the public funding—will likely be covered by federal funds.

Now you guys like what Elon and Doge is/has done???

It's not and has never been about some fictional generalization about who/what we "like" or "don't like."

We are all human. And we all know people are capable of doing good things one day, and terrible things the next. And vice versa.

C'mon - don't be a weirdo. Any notion that human behavior is a constant is childish.

In the Big Fat Ugly Bill that is the topic of the thread? Zero dollars allocated. Zero. No cost at all.

(I would hope you don't think that the scope of this thread includes all state and federal spending of all time. If that is your claim - you're just being a silly snake.)

No, not at all. Are you kidding?

If you don't see Musk as a legitimate player here, you're confused. The rest of this story isn't written.

Trump is the egomaniacal blowhard he's always been. And these "ideas" that are attributed to him all come from other people. Much smarter other people who gave donations to him. He is literally a King in that sense. Taking money from all and bought by the highest bidder as long as his ego allows it. His only interest is in counting his money. Policy can simply be sold to the highest bidder - very much like it's currently done in the middle east. NONE of his policies come from him, they all come from the highest bidders.

(Yes, the Executive branch of the US Government is now run exactly like a sh**hole country in the middle east. It's true.)

The rest of the Republicans run scared - even if they obviously disagree with Trump. They have to choose between career suicide or going along with the Trump pack and holding their nose for 3 more years. No surprise, politicians cave.

BUT Musk knows all of this and has the money to shake it all up. And given Trumps approval rating slump - a lot of people still like Musk and see that he might be the less shady of both these shady guys. (Which I believe... slightly.)

Is it all about trump? No. He's a puppet king and not a tiny bit more.

At this point, it's all about Elon.

If you were to post the "exact same thing"... then you'd be wrong, also.
