I'm watching him "fight" Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I've never seen a "fight" of his where anyone throws a lot of punches at him. It's just surreal that anyone believes this is legitimate boxing. This is just the ultimate rich guy paying to win against washed up fighters. When he did "fight" somebody who went off script or whatever, he lost. This is just sad to watch.

He pays them as employees. From what I understand, the pay is generous.

Why not. It's not like any of them have been real matches. As close to being scripted without actually being scripted as is possible (with one match going a bit off script.)

It's not 'real' boxing in any way, shape, or form. It's more like 'play' boxing for millennials who know nothing about boxing but will pay to watch exhibition matches.

This sort of thing won't save real boxing, but it will make money. If a bit of that money were to go toward real boxing...

I've still never r watched him fight live, and won't. From the highlights though., he looks pretty good to me. I think its just smaller and/or washed up fighters, not getting paid off. Just looking for another payday though. Those can look similar.  Maybe a top 50 fighter? I think he'd give Tommy fury a much tougher fight now.

Zero similarity imo. Dupont was just a rich guy because he inherited all of it. Absolutely horrid wrestler that couldn't beat the average guy on the street and mentally ill.

Jake Paul? 100% self made w almost zero evidence he paid anybody off and I can 100% guarantee that he would ko every single person on this forum with ease. There are levels to this. He's probablynot a top 10 fighter in world but he is a tough and athletic guy that has worked hard and had excellent trainers for past several years.

I wouldn't make the mistake of saying Paul doesn't have boxing skills or that he's not tough and in shape. Both those things are certainly true. I'm with you on that.

But as far as the scope of professional boxing goes, he doesn't even register. Not anywhere near Top 10, not Top 50, he's not even on the radar because all of his fights have been garbage PPV stunts against nobodies.

I would like to see Paul vs Opetaia - but I realize it won't happen. Not until Paul is for real, and he's not yet.

It seems like almost everyone he has fought forgets that they're allowed to punch him. Chavez Jr didn't throw a meaningful punch until the 6th or 7th round. Mike Tyson had numerous chances to flatten him and didn't. He isn't that good of a boxer period. The only person he fought who didn't follow the plan beat him, and Fury isn't near the top 10 anywhere.

Let's just call this what it is. He fights guys well past their prime, he offers a a decent pay day, and all they have to do is give less than a supreme effort. These guys don't care because they are getting paid a lot and they don't really lose anything. Mike Tyson got 30 million to have a glorified sparring session. People know if he was motivated he would have taken off Jake Paul's head inside of 3 rounds. We all know how dangerous Tyson is/was.

If Jake Paul fought a real contender right now and didn't have the fix in, he would get beaten up badly.

I think it's  reasonable for him to be in the top 50 cruiserweights or beat someone in top 50. A rematch w fury would be very winnable.

I agree he isn't a title contender right now. Props for making the fat cash though. Since so many people want to watch him or have interest. Look at us here talking about this guy.

You may be the only human on earth with this belief.

It’s not shocking who they are. This thread definitely shakes the idiots out of the idiot tree.

Parts of several fights. I didn't pay anything. Doesn't take absolute greatness to make top 50. He gave fury, #39, a tough fight 2.5 years ago and he's much better now.

I bet he'd be favored or very even odds if they fought again.

Look, I don't like the guy either, but I can set that aside and recognize he's a legit pro fighter now. He's being very strategic about who he fights but those guys would also knock out everybody on this forum in the 1st round.

All top 50, or hell top 100, boxers who participate on the forumn, check in here…

I'm saying all the guys he knocked out recently would ko anybody on here. Some people here seem to think he's a complete joke. I wouldn't be surprised if some really dumb people like Jimmy think they could last a round with him.

And I’m saying that has absolutely zero to do with the fact that he’s not a top 50 boxer.  He’s the Savanah Bananas of boxing.  Some skill?  Yes for sure.  Puts on a spectacle?  Sure.  World class??  Not even close.

Plenty of boxing analysts disagree re: top 50 ranking. You and I are not boxing experts at all.

Mike Tyson’s amount of no punches thrown at Jake would knock out like 0 people.  Does Mike get paid to take a dive in this fight vs forum people or does Tyson get to hit back ?

When Tyson came out in the 1st round, you could see the surprise and terror in Jake's eyes after he got tagged a few times.   He ran away and Tyson couldn't or wouldn't really pursue.   When I saw that I thought Jake was in real trouble.   But Tyson, backed way off.   He came hard the first few seconds of each round but then backed off.

You could also see in a number of situations Tyson catching himself and holding off on wide open opportunities to knock his a** out.   There is a reason he was biting his gloves so much in that....I'm not sure what to call it....display?
