Did Brittney Griner say f***ing white girl here to Caitlyn Clark.    Is racism tolerated in the wnba?  It is on video and it sure looks like she does.   I mean she is an admitted drug addict isn’t she?

If Caitlyn Clark said the reverse what do you think would happen to her?

she denies it in a variety of news articles on a variety of sites

This happened like a month ago and no, I don’t think that’s what she said.  Looked like she was angry about a ref’s call

If not that.  What did she say?

Remember she is a drug addict.  They say crazy things sometimes.

You….personally….started a thread about this very topic three weeks ago, posting the clip.  And now you’re bringing it up again with a new thread?

And no, having a valid medical marijuana card is not a ‘drug addict’.  No matter how many times you say it.

Someone is trying to divert attention. Or…just searching for something, anything, to be angry about.

The right thinks she said “white girl”

Many defenders think she said “whack call”

I think a combo of both.  “Whack, girl” (about the call)

It’s in the news again.   There are like 20 articles last 24 hours boss.

On May 23, OutKick posted a clip of Brittney Griner from the night prior in which she uttered profanities from the bench of a game against the Indiana Fever. The clip garnered millions of views as most observers read her lips to say "trash f***ing white girl" after fouling out.

Griner was asked about the video for the first time on Sunday by OutKick reporter Dan Zaksheske. Griner said she couldn't remember what she said, that watching the clip wouldn't help her remember, but she knows she didn't say what it looked like.

Got all that?

"I would never say that," Griner said." There's no place for that in our league, and [I] wouldn't say that. I was mad about a call. I know it wasn't that because I wouldn't use that type of language."

Transporting drugs to Russia… knowing what Russia does to people caught with drugs……

because you can’t live without them for a short period of time is the book definition of a drug addict.

I think a combo of both.  “Whack, girl” (about the call)

When lip reading, “white girl” does not look like “whack girl” — they produce different visual mouth shapes. Here’s why:

1. Different Vowel Visemes

  • “White” (sound /aɪ/, like “eye”) begins with a narrowing mouth (slight puckering) then opens wide as the vowel shifts.

  • “Whack” (sound /æ/, as in “cat”) features a wide-open jaw with relaxed lips.
These shapes are visually distinct when watching someone speak – there’s no confusion between them.

2. Distinct Final Consonants

  • “White” ends with a /t/ sound: lips are open, tongue hits the roof of the mouth, then quickly snaps shut.

  • “Whack” ends with a /k/ sound: the back of the tongue raises to touch the soft palate – a different gesture entirely.
So the mouth and throat movements at the end of each word are not confusingly similar.

3. Context + Mouth Movement Patterns

Studies show that lip readers rely heavily on context, facial cues, and movement patterns – not just static visemesreddit.comen.wikipedia.org+1backup.injoyhearing.com+1.
Since “white girl” and “whack girl” use different vowels and ending consonants, experienced lip readers would almost never confuse the two.

4. Viseme Overlaps vs. Here

It’s true that some phonemes look alike on the lips (like /p/ vs. /b/, or /t/ vs. /d/), leading to homophenes en.wikipedia.org.
But in this case, the vowel shapes (/aɪ/ vs. /æ/) and final mouth closures (/t/ vs. /k/) are visually distinct, avoiding that ambiguity.

✅ Bottom line:

Even without sound, “white girl” and “whack girl” are visually distinguishable via lip reading. The differing mouth spans between vowel and consonant sequences make them unlikely to be confused by a skilled observer.

It’s the first thing I thought.   White.   And whack are not visually the same thing.  You are stretching and protecting because it’s in poor taste to criticize the icon of the left…. It’s also in poor taste to admit Britney is racist.

Correct.  It’s irresponsible to be mad at Caitlin Clark because she came into the league so young and is so much better than the rest of the vets.

However, it is not cool to just go racially ballistic on her because you are jealous of her talents.

F'ing White Girl, F'ing Whack call...

I don't know.

I'm still waiting for her to play Demarcus Cousins in a game!

Once again, as always, the wingers are making the whites out to be the victims.

Yeah...well...the WNBA has been bizarrely small and petty with Clark when they've been carried by the NBA for years, they've never come close to making money and yet...complain about their pay...without providing any context. Just want the same % of revenue sharing as the NBA gets... which in the WNBA's case would mean each player has to pay to play in the league.

She's also had numerous cheap shots(one flagrant which Reese gleefully cheered).

All while she's making the league profitable. She is having that big of an impact on the league.

So "victim?" No, but a massive double standard.

They can’t stand being overshadowed by Caitlin and are lashing out because they are racist.   You know she said what she said.  It was plain as day.

She's laughing all the way to the bank w endorsements that she wouldn't come close to getting if she were black. Made $11 million in endorsements in 2024 alone. Only 1% of her income is directly from wnba.

No, don't know what she said. I think whack call is actually more likely, but I don't pretend to know. I also don't think it's just racial or there are SO many other players who have been great they'd have hated. Sue Bird, Lobo...there's that PG who was on team USA who models who's name I can't remember because I don't care enough about the league... but none of them have faced racial persecution.

Edit-Kelsey Plum...that's the Olympic team PG.

2nd Edit-I DO know "she said what she said." I just don't know what that was.

I think it's jealousy and pettiness...which is what I said.

Stop it.

You sound like Jemele Hill.

She's become the most popular because of how she plays, not because she's white. Why is A'Ja Wilson and Angel Reese #2 and #3 in endorsement delas?

I don't care what percentage of her income is from the WNBA, she's popular because she plays like Steph with better passing. Reducing it to race is ignorant... either saying they hate her because she's white or she's making money because she's white.

Everyone here realizes the WNBA has been around for a LONG time, right? The best player or biggest legend has been white as often as it's been a black player.

Caitlyn Clark was the most popular coming in because of her game. That created small and petty comments and treatment from legends like Swoopes who said it took her 5 years(extra year due to Covid) and that she was 24 when it took her 4 years and she was 22) to break the scoring record or... just dozens of other obnoxious comments.

But if you think her popularity is due to race...that's ridiculous.

I think that's part of it. Still would have been popular if she were black (she is an incredible player) but being a white, young and attractive female brings in extra money, especially endorsements. That's just reality. Look at thst Olivia Dunn gymnast from LSU as example A1.

Btw, attractive men also have an  advantage in business, albeit smaller.

Yeah...I'm a BIG Clark fan and I've actually recorded Women's Basketball because of her... but she's not Livvy Dunne.

Kelsey Plum is more like Dunne, or her new teammate Cunningham or that player from Stanford.

Now...to be clear, I'm NOT saying Clark is ugly. She's...average person attractive. She is NOT 11M a year because she's a pretty white girl attractive.

She's 11M a year because she's pulling up from 30 feet, changing the game EXCITING. Do not compare her to Dunne. Have you ever watched LSU Gymnastics because of Dunne? Even if the answer is yes, literally millions have watched Iowa and now Indiana WCBB and WNBA respectively because of Clark.
