I don’t think he ever made an announcement, but his absence from the open would suggest he may be done competing. I don’t think he ever sees 74 again, but I thought maybe he might try 79kg one more time to try to end on a high note. He certainly deserves a grand retirement. With Dake moving up, and 79 seemingly wide open, do you think he makes an appearance at WTT?

I think we see him at WTT, just unsure of the weight.

I expect an announcement of his intentions soon.  With Slay stepping down from PRTC, there is a lot up in the air right now.

His father also passed away in late January and he seems very focused on his youth Academy. I would expect him to give it 1 last go, especially with how wide open 79kg is, but only time will tell. I hope he is not done but that is simply because I want to watch him wrestle forever.

There is also a nonzero chance we see Nolf this weekend, btw, at 79 KG.

I think the PRTC guys in action at the senior level this weekend are Zapf and Jay Aiello?  Have not checked for others.  Joey is traning in Oklahoma now so not counting him as PRTC for htis one.

I agree, I think we see him in WTT if he is eligible.   He did not have a great showing last year and I would think he would want another shot to make it right.

I don't know what the eligibility requirements are for WTT.

He went to the WCs last year and did not place, got beat and then the guy that beat him got beat so Jordan was out.

It makes a lot of sense that he doesn't go to the open. There will be a lot smaller field for the challenge tournament to navigate through and the 2nd best guy won't be there.

Also holding & making weight approximately a month apart between WTT and Final X, rather than potentially making it either 1) two months apart, or 2) three times over two months.

That said, other than possibly Nolf, 79 has approximately zero competition at the level of current JB. Perhaps he is also contemplating going up to 86... or cutting hard to 74.

i am an idiot on the internet

Thank you.   This makes sense that he would wait if that is what he is doing.

Glad to hear it seems he might compete at the WTT. I don’t totally agree that skipping the open was the best strategy though. He would very likely win the 79 kg bracket and get a bye to final x. That has served him well in the past. Especially if Nolf decides to join WTT, that would make his path a lot tougher. I guess it’s really not much difference now that WTT are different dates than Final X. And he had no way of knowing what Dake, Nolf, and others are doing, so I understand the decision.
