Duke took more than a minute to tech his kid.  Let’s see if Locket can beat that.

You know William Denny is ranked #2 at 165 right? He's very good and just got tech'd by D.

No, didn’t know that!  How did this match happen so early?  Denny didn’t get seeded?

That actually makes your previous post a lot funnier. I have no idea what goes into the seeding in these tournaments though, so your guess is as good as mine.

How good is this Benius kid giving McEnelly a match!!???  Mc was behind but could not get B out of quad pod before ref called stalemate.  (Mc was about to get a knee down, many fan groans.)

Ok, double leg 4 and another TD for Mc.  Opening it up in 2nd.  Tech

I hadn't seen Denny wrestle before, but he has a strong base - hard to move around.  I reckon he actually had a strength advantage in that match.  Lockett too quick and talented for him though.

Dan Cardenas with 4 pt move on Yianni.
5-4 after Yianni lost challenge and got TD.  6-5 Yianni after scramble and exposure on Cardenas.  8-5 TD Y.  2nd TD Y.  10-5.  Good.  Glad to see Yianni on fire.  4 pt. 14-5.  16-5 Yianni after a pivot on his head with no exposure.  He is good at that.

Wait!  Gave exposure?  14-7.  Now 16-7.  Gut.  18-7.  Now done.

It was actually 5-2 Cardenas after Yianni lost the challenge. Yeah in normal speed looked like that was just a smooth chest wrap by Yianni but then they called it a feet to back for Cardenas followed by an exposure for Yianni.   Man oh man did  Yianni stomp him after that out scoring him 18-2 rest of the way!

70kg notes:

•How about Pantaleo not even placing at 70kg?   He lost to Arrington 3-2 on back side after losing to Andonian by 4-4 criteria on front side.

• Watch out for Arrington next year, he seems to be a whole new animal at 157 lbs as seen by his red shirt success at the weight.   Two time blood rounder will be a blood rounder no more!

• Pretty impressive for Ian Parker to take 3rd place.

• PJ Duke to try and make X through challenge tourney?  I know people mention PJ Duke jumping in to try and make Final X. I am a huge PJ Duke fan, been watching him dominate here in NY since he was in 7th grade. With that being said, I have my doubts about him being quite ready for these top tier senior level guys yet like a Yianni or James Green. When I watched him vs Pantaleo at this past world team trials for non olympic weights, the match was not really that close.  Maybe it was just a bad match up for him style wise, but I don’t think he is quite there yet.  Not that there is anything wrong with a HS kid not being the best in the country at seniot level yet lol.  Not to take anything away from what Blaze, and Jax are doing, but it is that much harder for HS guys to compete at those 65-70-74kg weight classes at senior level I think. Duke will win a Gold this year at U20s and likely should have won it last year had it not been for that embarrassing cold spray performance show cased by his semi opponent who had clearly ran out of gas.

•Great title for Yianni!

• Yianni teched/pinned his way to final before beating Green 8-2.

• Green has been nearly unbeatable vs domestic on our soil at 70kg. In fact, every time he has thrown his hat in for the 70kg world team spot, he has earned it.

• Yianni is now 4-0 vs Green in FS.

• although 8-2 final, that match was neck and neck till about a minute to go.  Yianni in great shape.  I think it’s safe to say that these two will rematch at Final X.  Unless maybe Nick Lee or Zain were to jump in which I doubt.

Melvin Miller gives up not one, not two, but three four-point moves and wins 17-14.

Similarly, the Atlanta Braves yesterday gave up four home runs to the same player in one game...and won.

Since they keep track of this stuff, that's only the third time in MLB history that a team did that.

I don't think there's any question he's ready for the senior level guys at 70kg, considering he took 3rd at WTTs last year at the same weight.  That includes wins over Lewan, Jacques and Thomas.  He got worked by Pantaleo, but Pantaleo lost yesterday to Arrington and Andonian, who both finished well behind Duke at WTTs.  The Lewan win is especially notable considering Lewan beat Green two months ago (but lost to him yesterday).  Duke's still an underdog against Green/Yianni, but I don't doubt he'll be competitive.

He thought Cardenas was Garvin. And that went on for quite sometime

no he started out calling Yianni Garvin I'm pretty sure, like he kept referring to the wrong guy having the chest wrap....but no big deal guy made a mistake I shouldn't care.

Stanich beats bassett 5-2

Duke beats Robideau 8-3 (he looked really good I think Robideau could push to AA next year)
