And what do you suppose is happening to us?

More importantly, they're dealing with ONE country. We're dealing with the rest of the world.

Yet you insist we have all the leverage as equities plunge further?

70 countries are in the negotiations list.  We do have leverage against every one of them

Really Jimmy?

So before Nixon opened China up to trade with the US, they must have had a VERY small Economy, right?

No? They've had the 2nd largest for most of the last 500-600 years? Before the US was a Nation?

Yeah, they'll never "survive" without our trade.

America can feed itself

Yeah...CCP=Bad.

That's not a hot take.

We're actually saying the people of China are more divided than those of the US because of protests?

I also wouldn't be so sure our Govt is any different, but in any event, I'm talking about the people.

Even with Trump in office our Federal Government is still fairly liberal in the sense of granting many freedoms.  Comparing or even suggesting there are similarities with the CCP is quite the stretch.  We very well might be living in the tail end of a political Golden Era (The Era of the Grand Bargains) but we have quite a bit to go.

That's not what I'm arguing.

The discussion is who is more united...in this context, as it pertains to a trade war and just the division amongst the people. Not which type of leadership I'd rather live under.

I NEVER said the administration was akin to the CCP...and this wasn't even about the leadership...though you do have a more coherent policy when it doesn't change every 4-8 years, but setting that aside, this was SOLELY about the people and Jimmy claiming their protests(Which...have been inconsequential compared to ours) are more divided than we as a people are.

There have been signs recently that Xi is falling out of favor, not with the populace, but with the committee.  Does anyone think the populace will revolt if he gets removed?

I haven't got a clue. Do you know how to measure his popularity in China? I've seen reports he's falling out of favor with the Oligarchs and the Party...

The ONLY Country of consequence at the moment where I feel confident in saying there is a disdain for leadership that would embrace a chance would be Iran.

That...would be a dream come true. Iran during the 'White Revolution,' I believe it was called, they listened to the Music of the West, women were free, it looked beautiful, peaceful and prosperous.
In retrospect, the Iraq War was probably the worst thing we could have done(don't think that's unpopular).

But China is so much better at both propaganda and silencing dissent that...

ONE study I've seen shows that when Chinese people are polled...over 90% express that the Govt does what's best for it's people and when it's anonymous, that drops between 50% and 70%(but imagine being asked in China and saying, "we promise, we won't tell anyone what YOU said)...so I FEEL like it's probably a safe bet that number is substantively lower.

The one...ONE area that really helps China is they are on a path and they do not deviate from it. They operate on their 500 year plan, so I think there's urgency to get a deal like this done, btu the people don't have a voice to pressure their leadership.

Here's the link. This is not the link I saw, but...same thing.

Secret and support for the Govt goes down.

--And PLEASE, I don't want to hear about the link if it's a site that people don't like. I don't know how you find reliable sourcing about the Chinese people's view of Xi and the Govt'. I simply took it to infer that...it's significantly lower than they would have you believe.

Wait.  Humans answer differently when they are anonymous?   I think you cracked the matrix.

School newspaper article to boot.

Even Republicans in Congress are starting to oppose these tariffs and Trump.

The cracks in Republican unity are forming and CHINA SMELLS BLOOD!!!!! Also smelling U..S. weakness.

China is a MUCH stronger economy than they were, even 7 years ago when Trump started the first trade war. I think I read that only 3% of their GDP is exports to U.S. They can get plenty of food domestically and from other countries. They now export all over the world.

U.S. DOES NOT HOLD THE CARDS!!

I think they should quickly dump all their U.S. treasuries. See how the wingers would like that.

They did fight back again. Now 84% tariffs on U.S. goods. Trump is a punk coward. Gotta stand up to people like that and they'll cave.

It’s always nice to stand up for a country against your own. Especially one that’s flooding your country with fentanyl.  Carry on comrade RV

Any evidence that this is something the Chinese government itself is doing? Or is this just criminals taking care of fulfilling demand that is already here, and you think their government needs to do more to stop it?

Anything manufactured worthy of its cost comes from Taiwan.  China will get stuck with their full containers supplying Dollar Tree and Dollar General, hopefully.

This 💯

Without the US they’ll lose big time even if they flood the market just to dump it.

I’m sure he’s not the first and has his hero’s statues on the desk his sugar momma provided him.  Definitely the dumbest one though.

Anything that happens or doesn’t happen in China is because the gov either allows it or doesn’t. If the gov didn’t want fentanyl to flow to America it wouldn’t.

LMAO. You think their government should be responsible for stopping their criminals from selling to U.S. druggies. No U.S. responsibility though? OMG.

These are  ALL lies. I don't support Hamas or civil war, etc.

Re: civil war, I'm merely explaining why you are seeing violence in this country (the right started it) and I don't support Hamas or Israel, but Israel is a MUCH bigger problem for us than Hamas. They suck the U.S. taxpayer dry and they are making all of us more vulnerable to attacks from Middle East countries. Meanwhile, they do virtually nothing that benefits us.
