If not Trumble then it will be someone else, some other time. It has to be to remain competitive in the long term. I expect the "we build, we don't buy", especially the present tense of it, to age poorly.

It does mean he is teasing.

But as I said several posts back, if it is not Trumble it will be someone else. If Nebraska wants to stay competitive.

You are really reading a ton into the "we build, we don't buy" quote.  Getting 1 or 2 guys to supplement holes doesn't mean you "bought" a trophy, especially when the other trophy teams have more transfers and are spending more on NIL.   

He never said they wouldn't go after a top transfer either.

Manning acknowledged they use NIL, but they don't have the NIL money to spend as much as other programs so they have to build guys.

Lmao Nebraska doesn't want locals??? Laughable, just wondering where Trelly is from??? Launderson is from where? There's a ton of nebraska kids on the roster. They didn't get trumble at the time because they already had Schultz and Allred. Since then Allred and Trumble has went different weights

could trumble have beaten allred? 

schultz was done 3 years ago... could have been trumble's spot. especially since allred went down.

and even then, maybe trumble wanted the HWT spot. how would that have sat with you.

my point stands... manning wants the guys with the goods. trelli and lauridsen have the goods.

Nebraska did go after Trumble, but were a little late and couldn't make up the ground NCSt had made by getting in early.  

Nebraska HS talent has come a long ways recently but it wasn't good enough for the first 20 years Manning was in Lincoln to build a strong B1G team.   I don't think they did not want NE kids but they probably were defaulting to the areas where they had built strong recruiting ties over the local scene that hadn't historically produce D1 AAs regularly.

Not every Nebraska star is B1G caliber.  Obviously Trumble is and they did go after him, just lost the recruiting battle.

i get it. i really dont follow recruiting that much, and missed what had happened with trumble.

I didn't know NCst was after him early.

but this again, goes to my thoughts, that manning doesn't always go after nebraska guys, he didn't realize early enough that trumble was gonna be good.

I dont blame manning. Nebraska high school wrestling isn't really that great... we are getting better, but we aren't there yet.

this is what i meant when i said the goods.  Guys who have been to fargo and done some damage.

cameron browne for instance, trelli, lauridsen

same for newman before him, with brester and vering , although i don't know how much brester did outside nebraska

We have 6 guys from nebraska on the team! That's alot for nebraska kids. Allred and Trumble were at the same Weight at that time. In state wrestling is getting much better and that # will only go up

Just watched the interview. Love Manning. Really liked what he said about the National Dual Meet Championship. We definitely need it and need to prioritize it. I don’t necessarily agree with it taking place post individual championships but would love to see the tournament make some more noise
