As much as it pains me---Chandler at MSU.  Three NQ----scored 0.5 points, and placed last (again) in the B1G. But as things go in East Lansing, they don't give two craps about wrestling. If they aren't making negative news, they consider that a win.

Wrestlers who left MSU for greener pastures:
Caleb Fish and Chase Saladate.....who met in the Bloods.

Saldate going to Michigan from Michigan State should be a crime. What a shameful move.

He should've went after Joey Blaze... would've helped him lock down Marcus Blaze and the bucks would have a finalist right now. But hindsight is 20/20.

They need to bring back Tervel somehow. I think he's the secret sauce at Nebraska.

Yeah beginning of the season you had Sasso and you didn’t know how he’d perform and I don’t think anyone thought Blaze would be in the finals in the offeseason

I do agree Tervel helped with the upper weights quite a bit, but I think he left because a job opened up on Nebraska coaching staff and he went to college in Nebraska

Who would be your top candidates to replace him?

Doug Schwab and Lee Roper should be at the top of almost every list.

Chandler needs to go!   Never hire from within a failed program and that is exactly what Msu did when they hired Chandler.

It drove me nuts when he got hired...

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Bono yet.

There are like...93 threads about Wisconsin and Bono already. His seat isn't hot...though after a 7 minute match, his arse should be well done, he's not going anywhere.

It IS interesting to think about what a Wisconsin team could do...

-25 Rivera
-33 Fugitt
-41 Clark
-49 Brenner
-65-Mesenbrink(and about 5 others)
-74-O'Toole, Whiting, Riddle
-84-Keckiesen and then Sinclair
-97-Buchanan, Mirasola
-HWT-Mirasola

I'm missing guys, but...that's a contender there.

Michigan st just had .5 points. Fish and Saldate left, it’s time for Roger Chandler and the entire staff to get fired.

absolutely right. there is some guy here who will now pop up and tell us that a good team can't happen at MSU. just wait for it.

Bono's seat has cooled a few degrees with freshman Fugitt becoming an AA.

That's...silly. They had two competitive Wrestlers. '25 and '33.

It should really take more than that.

Get a clue.  You don't fire the coach who built the program after 1 down year.

depends on your goals for the program and who is available to replace him. john smith says hi.

Iowa will have 5 AA’s and 3 guys are in the finals, and they got hit with the injury bug. So I don’t see them getting anything but praise when they get back to Iowa City. I think Kennedy and Kueter had a pretty great tourney.

I think 3 finalists changes the perspective big time. Especially since I think two of them will win it.

5 AAs, one finalist, and a 4 place finish seems way worse.

However, when does the injury bug become a concern? It seems every year Iowa doesn’t perform to pre season expectations because of the injuries.

Well all the teams have to work through their injury situations. But what I think is Iowa’s issue is that I see guys just getting worn down to the nub. Perhaps 5 years of the intense training is too much for a lot of their wrestlers.

Mizzou has suffered from many injuries this season. Even their current finalist is doing it with a bad knee. Bad luck happens. Imagine Smith retires in the next few years as it is. Mizzou will let him. Leave on his terms.

It’s not bad luck when it happens a few seasons in a row.  This has been the song around mizzou for a while.  “We’re amazing but our bodies are broken” is code for “our training ruined good athletes.”

I’m pretty sure Iowa thrives on that reputetion, mizzou needs to return to the funky fueled askren-style fun wrestling team days.

Maybe...but it just seems disappointing.

Nebraska, I get Smith is a transfer, but look at that talent they've developed.

Iowa has Buchanan(one finalist), Caliendo(2nd), Teemer, Parco.

I think a big move in the right direction was Bassett. I hope Estrada can become a stud for them. But bang for the buck, it's the high end HS kids and then it really seems like they could use a fresh coach in their room.

Outside the box, but I'm just thinking...I wonder if you paid Nolf the right type of money, if you could get him.

They DO seem like they've made a BIG step in the right direction.

If they can go Caliendo, Kennedy, Arnold, Ferrari, Keuter on the back half next year... Maybe Harvey Ludington in there at '97(dear GOD if there was ever a reason to not go after AJ Ferrari...this is the case. You have a stud coming in, a guy who could develop into a multi National Champ...

You could start out with Deluca, Ayala...I think 149 could be Estrada. I thought he was a STUD and an underrated recruit.

You add Bassett and maybe pick up another recruit at that '41-'65 by '26 and you'll have a TON of homegrown talent. But Iowa has to develop their own young guys to get the heat online off Brands.

Yeah, it really is bad luck. They just don't have the depth...and neither does Iowa for that matter, but guys get hurt. That's why a lot of Freshmen I know don't want to take that RS if they're healthy. They know what a year with this scrambling and the bent knees will do to their careers...

They have some studs coming and a really good recruiting class and the knee injuries...they are just flukey. So are the shoulder injuries. Every time you're in on a single trying to finish, that's...creating a dangerous situation.
