ESPN can't even operate an on screen match clock!!!!

That kind of stuff never happens in basketball

Does bball have as much going on as wrestling does?   I bet the chaos at a wrestling tourney is much harder.     I also bet espn makes a ton more $$$$$$ on bball.

we put up with it because we love it and it’s never been better.

I signed up for ESPN+ and I get to the wrestling page with all the various cameras, but two issues;

1.  None of the individual mat cameras are labeled.  So I've got 8-9 different leads/cameras and you don't have a way of knowing which broadcast is which mat.

2.  even when I select a specific mat, I just get an hour glass going round and round.

Geeeez!

Anybody have a suggested solution?   I have plenty of internet/bandwidth (1 gig).

Mine works great.  I have mat cast on main tv.  And 3 iPads to watch larger screen if wanted.  Nothing is spinning no internet issues.    Track on Mac for mat assignments… I have espn+ through Hulu

Tbh mat cast for this round may be all you need.  It’s like being in the arena with all 8 mats all the time.

I feel the same way. You get some Sparks (colorful, enthusiastic), you get some Hidlay (technical, knowledgeable), and you get an eye on all mats. Plus the ability to pull up single mats on another device. Not too bad.

The problem is that the clock and score are not working correctly on the individual mats. They work when they want to.

Meh.   Wrestling fans are never happy with anything.

Best time ever to watch the ncaa championships!!!

is espn even making $$$ on the broadcast?   We could always go back to the finals only…. on tape delay and get 1/2 or 1/4 of the matches…. Like Mcilravy abbas starting in the second or third period.

There are what.  16 variables on the screen for each mat?  For let’s say 128 total.  The complexity of this broadcast vs a basketball is like comparing this forum to the non wrestling topic forum.

How much revenue will I get if I enhance the feed?

will I get any net new subscribers or will the same hard core wrestling fans watch either way.

is the investment worth maybe 6 - 8?hours of broadcasting ??? As the quarters and semis and finals are always fine.

this will only really impact session 1/2 and maybe the medal round.  Which are arguably the least awesome 3 sessions of the whole tourney.

😂 when I saw the title I knew what the thread was about. This is pretty bad.  Score bugs are used in pretty much every live televised sports event.  Pretty elementary failure.

Why do we put up with this crap?  Because wrestling is circling the drain.

We should’ve had Flo cover the tournament! I kid, I kid. It’s very frustrating but overall throughout the years, ESPNs coverage of this tournament has been far better than anything else we have ever had in the wrestling world

The issue is that track wrestling is feeding the clocks and track has been trash all day. They are hiding the score bug because it's worthless when it's not getting updated.

Blame flo

Blame flo

Should’ve known… Flo always finds a way to mess up big events. And yet I still pay every year…

I have, and I did so because I agreed with those that think simple production issues should be ironed out before a nationally televised sporting event. The sport deserves better imo.

I keep trackwrestling up and flip back and forth so I know which match is on what mat.
