Gabe Arnold gets a lot of stick on this and other forums. Some of it deserved given his penchant for calling out Starocci without backing it up (sometimes not his fault, sometimes his fault). And some of it is completely undeserved, as grown men being childish and investing way too much of their self-worth in how someone else performs at a sport.

So I wanted to point out something I noticed last night. During the 197 final Arnold was waiting with the other podium finishers at 184 on the far side of the floor. Rather than hang in the designated area at the opposite side of the floor, he asked for, and was granted permission to be near the mat where the 197 final was happening so he could cheer on his teammate. No one else from any other team thought to do something like this the rest of the night (or they were denied permission if they did). To be clear, he needed to be escorted there by a credentialed worker as it was off limits for anyone without credentials.

So let's give it up for Arnold being a great teammate in that moment.

He seems like a great human, and I think what he's done speaking about his mental health especially in a male bravado dominated sport is really awesome. He has made some silly claims but I'm sure he fully believes/believed them at the time. Would love to see him get on the podium and I am sure his best years are ahead both on and off the mat.

After this season and the way things went does he leave Iowa? I know he has said that he is happy there, but it could be him being a good team guy by not airing dirty laundry in public.

Guessing Kennedy goes in the portal and it’s Arnold/Ferrari for the next 3 years.

didn't enjoy his defensive matches but both losses were by seconds not getting out in TB,  He does look small framed for the weight.

Seems like all the Hawkeyes were worried about their personal results; no team chemistry fighting for one another. Gabe is a team player! Where's the rest of the team? And Teemer only going hard in small pieces of time, maybe because injury, but it seems to be spreading.

I feel for Gabe.  He isn't shy about his struggles with mental health.  I think that the Carter match should have had happened during the dual season, as I ultimately feel like the thought of backing up the trash talk clouded his mind at B1Gs.  Seems like an upstanding gentleman through and through, even if he isn't in the highest echelon of his weight like he might think.

Now this is the POS type comment that falls into the "grown men being childish" category. I am surprised it took you this long.

I literally was giving him love for being a great teammate...  Misinterpret much?

How Teemer wrestled you can debate but he did wrestle all the way through the consolation rounds when he didn't look physically good.
