yes, i missed Carter last year. the "9" lol.

What were your thoughts on the 9 seed last year.  All for it or do you think seeders should make a judgement call in a case like Starocci.

i mustve talked about it on multiple shows but for the life of my i don't recall what my stance was lol.

i absolutely hate defaulting multiple times in tournaments. obviously Carter gutted it out and won his fourth by 9 outta 10 times if you aren't healthy enough at conferences, you're not going to be ready by NCAA's (suriano/eierman/schlatter/caldwell).

that being said, getting in while forfeiting and the seed you get aren't exactly the same thing.

idk how the hell they came up with '9' for god's sake. he had wins over Kennedy, Welsh, and Wittlake and his 'losses'(forfeits) were to Sparks and Baumann.

he was seeded behind (2) Cade Devos, zero time AA (5) Phil Conigliaro who lost twice to Benny freakin Baker, zero time AA (8) Adam Kemp who lost to Coniglario, (6) FR Rocco Welsh, who he beat in a dual.

idk. i wouldn't think he could have been worse than 5/6

Nice Whalen pick, I wonder why he is ranked so low this year.  He has wins over Watters and Parco last year.

I'll go back a decade -

Low seeds to win it all

(13) - Cody Brewer, OU 133 - 2015

(11) Myles Martin, OH ST 174 - 2016

(8) Mekhi Lewis, VA Tech 165 - 2019

(6) Drew Foster, N. Iowa 184 - 2019

(8) Shane Griffith, Stanford 174 - 2021

(8) Richie Figueroa, Arizona St. - 2024

Low seeds to make a final

(US) - Zeke Moisey, WVU 125 - 2015

(8) - Ty Wilps, Pitt 174  - 2015

(14) - Bryce Meredith, Wyoming 141 - 2016

(15) Ronnie Perry, Lock Haven 149 - 2018

(15) Kizhan Clarke, N. Carolina, 141 - 2022

(10) Ridge Lovett, Nebraska 149 - 2023 (was a 10 vs. 11 semi w/ Andonian) (Tariq Wilson was the 2, Gomez the 3)

(7) Tanner Sloan, SD State 197 - 2023

(10) Lucas Davidson, Michigan 285 - 20224

Yea but anyone who saw Brewer wrestle that year knew he could win it.

Moisey and Clarke were the biggest surprises to me.  They both had super fun runs. I hope we get another like that this year.

His losses this year have overshadowed his victories while on greyshirt last year.

He has no signature win this year, either.

174 - #3 Hamiti

Big 12's are huge for this weight.  A win by Hamiti or O'Toole would secure the 1 seed, and leave the other fighting with Haines just to make the finals.

Lost at Penn in OT to Cross Wasilewski, who is having a nice season and could shake it up at NCAAs!
