Tom has now seen his blond warrior against the top guy. A 3-1 shellacking! Can't get off bottom very well & doesn't understand stalling via being pushed out of bounds.

Apparently no one else will beat him, or so thinks the brains at Iowa.

So, let him keep his redshirt & gain experience as these matches "don't count".

Then he wrestles next year with Tommy & Co having delusions of a 4 timer, undefeated.

After the 4th title(& 4th Hodge?) Tom can retire.

Yes, the kid IS good & this is some tongue in cheek - but a chance at a 4 timer for Tommy is probably too much for him to resist.

These matches do count. He is not undefeated.

Ferrari has 1 or 2 dates left (not sure if soldier salute counts).  Iowa has Nebraska, Minnesota and Oklahoma State remaining on their schedule.  It would make most sense to have Arnold duck Allred if TB can only use AF once more.

1 date left. SS counts as 1. I think Nebraska makes sense too, to help with Big10 seeding, but Plott (Ok St) is higher ranked than Allred, so maybe that helps with NCAA seeding.

So if Arnold sits against Nebraska it is a clear duck.  If he sits against OkSt it is because Tommy Boy thinks Ferrari gives them the best chance to defeat the Cowboys.  I can’t think of a reason for them to use Ferrari against Minnesota.

I'm not sure Plott could beat Arnold or Ferrari, although he'd certainly be favored over Arnold.

I don't think Arnold "ducked" Starocci. I think Tom Brands held him out for seeding reasons.

If.   (I don’t think he will).  Blonde Ferrari goes undefeated and wins 4x ncaa titles next 4 years will Cstall be the same as Paul Jenn was to Carl?

No, because that lose goes on the official record.

But again I don’t think it will occur but:

if Ferrari goes 4x undefeated next 4 years and only loss was to a 5 time ncaa champ he will surpass Carl in the mental record books given Carl lost to a preverbal nobody…..   in the same “year” Ferrari lost to cstall.

They changed the rules so we have to change the way we think about things.   Same with making take downs worth 50 points and near falls worth 100….. a major isn’t the same today as it was yesterday.

Ferrari just had a bad plan to start the match. He went to the edge, well past the edge, in the hopes of not giving Starocci room for a TD while giving himself room to counter any shot.

I put it down to too much respect for Starocci.

He grew into that match. If he had realized sooner he could compete with Starocci, so that he does not get the well earned stalls, then perhaps he can win it. No guarantee, but perhaps. He certainly looked strong enough, fast enough, and flexible enough.

We still do not know if he can get through Starocci's elite defense. And maybe if he took early shots he would have gotten countered. But maybe not.

Unfortunately for him there does not look like there will ever be a rematch to find out.

Meh, I think Ferrari would need 120+ wins and to beat some studs to get in the conversation.

This all very premature of course considering he has 0 titles.

I think he thought Ferrari had a better chance to not get bulldozed. I don't know if Iowa thought Ferrari could win.

Ferrari has length that's hard to break through and harder to finish on once you get it.

I do not think Starocci showed him everything he can do. It looks to me like he was staying simple and doing just enough to win...a rope-a-dope for a potential second or third matchup, if you will.

I'm not familiar with his weigh-ins, but can Arnold drop to 174? That would probably make Iowa better because I think Ferrari is the better choice at 184 and I'm assuming Arnold > Kennedy, though I could be convinced otherwise.
