I’ll quote her.

we also plan to make important investments to address the roadway safety crisis…. Including the critical funding that would accelerate the development …. Of the use of female dummies in crash testing.   This will start to fight the gender inequity among vehicle safety …

was she in the incredibles?   That part is not a quote.   I guess her name is Rosa delauro.   Wait I don’t know if she is a she for a fact I shouldn’t have said that.

this is what we want to spend tax payer money on?

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not.

Do you really not know that there are differences in center of mass, organs, bone density, neck musculature, etc. between men and women? They sit closer to the steering wheel/dashboard. They often have more bent legs. Physics can and will do very different things to a 6’ tall male and a 5’ woman.

Crash simulations that don’t attempt to account for 50.whatever percent of the population are great for men, not so great for women.

Duke, Duke, Duke Duke Duke. Crash simulatons (FEA computer models) place the model for the 5th percentile female (i.e. tiny) and the model for the 95th percentile male ( i.e. gargantuan) occupants into the hundreds if not thousands of computer crash simulations run for every vehicle model.  We don't need more dummies involved in this topic.  Actual crash tests (not simulations) are used to validate the simulations.  Those are extremely expensive and are mostly used to fine tune the computer models so more design space, options, conditions, and scenarios can be quickly tested for that itty bitty little lady..

Furthermore, we have real crash data.  Lo and behold, vehicles are far safer for women than for men.  Facts outweigh leftie sexist stupidity.  Women are half as likely as men to die in a car crash.  No more dummies needed in this conversation.

Your data doesn’t mean what you think it means.
It simply means they are in far fewer serious accidents. Adjusted to account for all crashes, women are more likely to die in a serious accident.

https://www.iihs.org/topics/fatality-statistics/detail/males-and-females

“However, females are more likely than males to be killed or injured in crashes of similar severity (Kahane et al., 2013).”

Along those lines: more people die in urban car crashes than rural car crashes. But, adjusted for population, or total number of accidents, and you’re far less likely to die in an urban area than a rural area.

So I'm confused...do car crash test account for men and women or no??  Because your first post said they don't and then when shown that your statement was false you then changed the subject saying females are more likely to die than males in car crashes...how do they know that if they don't test for women??

The second part is based on actual fatalities in the US, not test results from crash test dummies. Did you not read the link?

With the rise in obesity are we using an appropriate percentage of obese dummies in testing?  Do they use black, Latino, trans etc dummies?

Im suggesting she doesn’t need to spend tax payer money on it and it isn’t ….. What did she call it…..a roadway safety crisis.   They’re trying to stuff as many blue dollars into their administration  before that guy who can’t remember his name leaves office.   Isn’t she the one ranting about president musk ?   They’re so afraid all their nonsense will be getting cut…….0

Yes, there are female crash test dummies, and they are becoming more advanced to improve safety for women:

  • Mercedes-Benz
    Has female crash test dummies.

  • Humanetics
Developed a crash test dummy designed around injuries that women experience in car crashes.

  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
Uses a 5th percentile adult female dummy that is 4'11" and weighs 108 pounds.

  • VTI
Created a female crash dummy based on data from HumanShape, a large online database of 3D human body shapes.

Volvo: Pioneered the development of virtual crash test dummies representing average-sized females and pregnant women to advance their safety systems. In 2002, they introduced a virtual model named Linda, representing a midsized pregnant female, to analyze the effects of high-speed impacts.

She also appears to be mentally unstable.   Has been in congress way too long ( 30+ years ).    Is 81 years old.   Doesn’t need to try to look like Howard stern and Is worth far too much for her salary.

There have been significant body composition demographic changes across American society in the last 20 years that I believe manufacturers attempt to account for, yes.

It’s kind of amazing how quickly you’ve pivoted from culture war to fiscal conservatism here.

Your first post was mocking the idea that there should be different sizes and makeups of ATDs, and now you’re admitting that the companies themselves already use them for testing.

Where does it say that.  I believe the mocking was asking if she was in the incredibles.   I’m pretty sure y’all inferred what you wanted to infer.

given this stuff exists already.  What crisis do the tax payers need to pony up $$$$$ for?   One has been in use for what?   22 years?   Doesn’t congress have bigger fish to fry?   Like this.  This is super important to jam in before musk comes in to fire them.   I think Marge Simpson calls him president musk now lol

Biden admin looks to hire up to 1,200 DEI employees in last-minute 'woke' push

https://www.dailywire.com/news/feds-look-to-hire-up-to-1200-new-dei-bureaucrats-before-trump-takes-office

The jobs have annual salaries of up to $310,000, and could add up to total salary payouts of $160 million a year.

Which is why we have sexist insurance rates that charge young men more . . . or perhaps that are based on actual science.

And what the OP (I think you are referring to me in this case) means is that we don't need more dummies and that the lady in the video is a blowhard who is trying only to create hate and discontent where none is warranted.  Women die at about half the rate as men on the roads of America.  No more dummies costing millions of tax dollars "to study and develop" are needed.  If the insurance industry or the automotive industry wants to use their shareholders' dollars to study and develop better dummies then let them do it.
