There is a piece of land in Southern Ontario that is near to places where lots of tough wrestlers come from. It stretches from Michigan to NY State, and it runs along Lake Erie, which borders Pennsylvania and Ohio. What is going on there? Is freestyle wrestling a thing there? Does the interest in wrestling just stop at the US-Canada border?

I live in Toronto and the only wrestling we have in Southern Ontario seems to be freestyle. It is not a big draw aside from those who are training for MMA and needs some grappling help. Lachlan McNeil (University of North Carolina) is from here but I don't hear much else. I've looked for clubs for my kids but it is very limited.

That's interesting. I wonder why interest in wrestling seems to fall off at the border.

Southern Ontario is connected to Riverside via the 60 freeway.

The Kistler's wrestled at Notre Dame HS/Riverside and one of the brothers coached (maybe still does) at MLK HS in Riverside (multiple State placers).

Christian Pagdilao, CA State Champ (beat Anthony Valencia in the finals) and an AA for ASU, wrestled at Centennial-Corona. Not quite Ontario, but close to Riverside.

There is some wrestling culture in the (Southern) "Ontario" region!
