Albania finally granted visas to the Iranian delegation

we can now focus on the wrestling

cannot wait to watch the 92 kg matches

As far as I know ghassempour is undefeated in 92 kg

his only losses are in 86 to Hassan Yazdani and a couple when he experimented in 97

Yea I don't think Iran gets Albanian visas this time either.

Bullshit call from UWW to allow Albania to host 2 World championships when they have a track record of visa refusal to a core wrestling country.

Last year, they stripped Poland and Finland their age level championship because of Russia stuff, and yet Albania keeps doing this.

Great news that Iran is coming, is this 92kg bracket the greatest non-Olympic weight bracket in history?

I think so.  If the the top three guys show up anywhere near their top form it will be an epic competition

I have to say I am a bit nervous for DT.   He has been here before so maybe he can handle it, but these are new people he has never faced.   But on the other hand, I think Sads is not as strong as we remember.   He has Yaz beaten so maybe he can do the same to Gas.   I think that this will be an awesome weight class to watch no doubt.

he has never lost in totality at 92kg to my knowledge he did lose to ebrahimi in 1 of the best of 3 finals for the spot in 2021.

I'm curious how they are going to seed 92KG.  It's often the case that the best wrestlers end up facing one another before the finals because of seeding criteria.    Is it possible that the top 3 are all on the same side of the bracket?  The UWW should use some common sense and avoid that situation.   Even if not, one of the three will have to face two of the top three rather than only one of them

I imagine it will be Top 4 from these rankings with the rest randomly drawn in.image.png.9507626c35becd52b2d48b9d3d9dde78.png

In any case, it does appear that Ghasmpour, Sadulaev and Taylor will all be randomly drawn in.

So, we will either get 2 on one side of the bracket or all three on the same side.

i would love it if all three end up on the same side so we hopefully get all three go against each other

I know that would suck for the guy who gets 5th place, but it’s the best outcome for the fans.

This is assuming all three show up close to their top form.

I have my doubts about Sadulaev, but would love to be proven wrong

Must be a special young talent if he's second in the ladder in Iran as an 18-year-old. That being said unless there is age tampering it's hard to imagine someone that young being highly competitive at 70kg at the senior level. Thinking about Pico at 18-19 at 65kg having his struggles and he's probably the best hand fighter in comparison to his age that I have ever seen.

best wishes to baby Yaz he has had the injury bug.

Was Ali Mahmoud Khorramdel discussed to replace him at all?

I suspect they selected him, because of his readiness.  He was supposed to go to Albania for the U23, so he was ready.  He is an outstanding young wrestler, but probably not ready to be at the top level for seniors

Khormdel is in fact going to replace Khalili in the U23 now

Pico was good but not the best at his age group in the world.

That yazdani guy seems pretty good he may even win a world title or two! I agree just as a reference to how hard it is on the senior world level for an 18 year old. Pico was the most physically advanced kid I've seen and he even would not have been super competitive against the best. More drawing a comparison towards him to temper expectations for Khalili unless of course hes another Yazdani.

People are indeed very high on Khalili, but my expectations are a bit more realistic.  I do hope he will grow to 74 Kg in time for the 2028 Olympics.  I have personally given up on Amir Yazdani

All this does is remind me Pico is 28 years old and it's been eight years since he lost in the 2016 Olympic Trials finals to Frank Molinaro. What could've been both in wrestling and MMA...

Iran is pretty weak in the lighter weights. Nokhodi and Ghasempour probably will get medals below gold.

For 61 and 70, I can't expect Momeni and Khalili anywhere near medal bouts. There's probably about 10 wrestlers in each category better than said wrestlers.

Nokhodi -- probably the 2nd best wrestler if you just go down the entry list.

At 92, it's a bit of a jump ball between the big 3, but I think Ghasempour is maybe half a step behind Taylor and Sadulaev. So it's likely a medal unless all favorites draw the same side.

---

Let's say 1 silver, 1 bronze, draw dependent.
