Pyles slipped this in on FRL today when they were talking about the OSU coach search. I know the guy that funded most of it announced he was retiring or something, but I didn’t realize they were folding completely?  Was this previously announced?

I don’t see much chatter about it on x/twitter or anything on their website (which is actually a pretty good website as far as RTC’s go!), but I do see this which was just posted late last night

That's pretty big news. Sunkist Kids has probably been around for about 50 years now and helped develop tons of top level talent before RTCs were a thing. End of an era.

Yeah.  Just some of the athletes their website currently lists (yes I know some never really trained there, but many did):

Jordan Burroughs

Helen Maroulis

Dom Parrish

Cohlton Schultz

Zahid and Anthony Valencia

Dom Bradley

Austin O’Connor

Benji Peak

Tracy Hancock

Victoria Anthony

Forrest Molinari

Audrey Jimenez

Kayla Miracle

Jordan Oliver

Kyven Gadson

Seth Gross

Macey Kilty

Maya Nelson

One common question will be around the Blades sisters.  They chose to not wrestle in college to instead train at Sunkist.  Guessing Iowa has called them up?

Was their plan to pull a Cejudo and make an Olympic run then go pro? I really don't know, just guessing that they may be trying to capitalize on the timing of this cycle. If things don't work out, they should give Clarissa a call. They could earn more in NIL money over the next few years than in MMA. I think UFC actually has NIL deals with collegiate women wrestlers, so it could also be a good inroads to their next step.

This was announced months ago. Apparently some people can't keep themselves under control and the bosses don't want the headaches that come with it anymore.

He who shall not be named?

Like I said, I remembered seeing the announcement about Martori retiring, I  didn’t realize that meant the club was closing…

But let’s name him, just for those who may not know who you mean…not me of course, I know “he who shall not be named” but the others.

My guess is Mark Perry who was outed as being a creep long ago.

In other words if everyone else is too cowardly to do it, point me in the right direction and I'll do it.  I've always looked down on cowards so if you ask me to do it I will lose all respect for you; but if I believe the mission to be noble I will see it through anyway

It had less to do with the topic and more to do with the comments...

The owner of this site said he “zapped” the thread in part because he was “uncomfortable with specific names mentioned”

I’m not going to lie, when I saw this thread title my first thought was “dang, that still exists?”

Kinda like hearing that somebody’s brother finally decided to sell their old rusty early 90’s saab they had parked out back for two decades.

They’re pretty much the dominant RTC for women, which I guess is ironic given the current allegations.

But they literally have either the person with the bye to the championship series or the #1 seed in the challenge tournament at every single women’s weight.

Ah, thank you, that both explains it and…explains…it.

Well, goddamnit that the best women’s club is closing, and goddamnit that such an environment was allowed to exist or continue within that club.

Hopefully they go and and stuff Park Merry in some paper pushing admin position far far away from rising athletes with hopes dreams and trusting hearts.

That was quite an evening. The suits were definitely on the phone with two specific people first thing the following morning.
