My Penn State NCAA predictions

Recommended Posts

My official predictions about my favorite team, Penn State.

  1. First, Penn State wins the team title by at least 40 points.  It won't be close.
  2. Now here are my weight by weight predictions
    1. 125 Davis - wins his first round match but loses to Dean Peterson in round 2.  He makes his way through consis and ultimately takes 7th.
    2. 133 Nagao - wins his first round match but loses in round 2 to Nasir Bailey.  Ends up making R12 but falling short of AA honors.
    3. 141 Bartlett - Makes the semis where he takes on Woods and drop a close one.  Ends up finishing 3rd again.
    4. 149 Kasak - Makes the quarters before dropping a close decision to Kyle Parco.  Finishes 6th to become a true freshman AA.
    5. 157 Haines - makes the finals opposite Shapiro and wins a close one. Your 2024 NCAA champ at 157!
    6. 165 Mesenbrink - makes the finals opposite KOT but loses by major.  2nd place as a true frosh.
    7. 174 Starocci - He really is injured and loses in the quarters to Lewis in a 2 point match.  Wrestles back to take 3rd.
    8. 184 Truax - Loses to Plott in the quarters.  Wrestles back and takes 4th, for the 4th time.
    9. 197 Brooks - Wins a decision vs Hidlay in the finals.  4x NCAA champ!
    10. HWT Kerk - Loses a barnburner to Bastida in the finals.  Takes 2nd for the 2nd year in a row.

Penn State goes 9/10 AAs with 4 finalists and 2 champs!

That puts them around 137 - 138 plus bonus. Short of the record, but well in front of second. Feels about right.

We now have proof this is not the real Jimmy, Brooks is too short to win it at 197, the real Jimmy is gone, long live the jimmy.

Is Brooks shorter than Hidlay?  I would say it's pretty close.  Hidlay might even be shorter.   Anyone know? In this photo, they each appear to be about 24 inches tall (I mean short).

Hey Jimmy. Pretty reasonable. I wonder if CS loses that early and injury is a relatively big factor, if he’ll finish the tournament.

That is the biggest question mark for Penn State.  A relatively healthy Cstar (80%+) wins the title.  If he's less than that I think Lewis takes him out.
