I’m sure it’s some of both, but I’m curious if the bigger reason for the boos is the prior charges, or just that he’s not good

Half the roster has prior charges. Pro wrestling is an ugly, dark sport .... as seen in the McMahon allegations this week.  I'm going with he's just not very good as seen last year in his really ugly start.

I dunno much about the history of the other wrestlers, but a lot of the comments I see on social media from WWE fans in regards to Steveson are referencing the charges

It could have something to do with it......The hardcore fans of WWE are interesting.... funny how they would boo a guy like Steveson who had charges dropped and was cleared, but still support  all the guys arrested for assault (Austin) , road rage (Flair), etc. .. or  McMahon who has been through several allegations of sexual misconduct.  Will they continue to cheer on Lesnar at this point?

it seems sort of odd, but steveson isn't funny. It was a seriously great comedian, richard pryor or something, was asked who they thought the funniest person on earth was, and he said Rick Flair. If you are a WWE wrestler, and you don't have kevin nash, undertaker type physicality size and therefore gravity, you really need to be a performer. Not sure he is.

You don’t get buried in house shows, that is where you actually have development. That Indian sports website is also trash.

I guess it is an expectations based assessment. After the appearances at Wrestlemania and Smackdown events, getting "drafted", and perfoming in NXT, moving to dark and house shows two and a half years in seems a demotion. Throw the real wrestling credentials on top of that and it looks even worse.

I know less about fake wrestling than real wrestling, but that does not seem the path of someone who has "it".

He never seemed to have that type of personality.  Not surprised it's not working out, but hope he can find something more suitable for him as an adult career

Maybe he could ask Jordan Burroughs and Kyle Snyder about whether they, as people who had similar training and success in college while developing a marketable skill, have any suggestions about a career that could last well over decade from his current age and make him a millionaire.

What the heck is a “dark show”?

Dark matches are matches that are live, but not televised. Events that are live, but not televised are called “house shows.”

There might be a handful of dark matches tonight before the Royal Rumble, for example.

Insert catchy tagline here.

They are untelevised matches at otherwise televised events. Like a warm up act for the crowd before the cameras get turned on. Had to look that one up too.
