In a strange way, Iowa wrestling's tumultuous season so far is due to women's basketball

Most notably, Iowa GOAT Caitlin Clark.  If not for her meteoric ascent, several members of the Iowa wrestling team would not have bet on the women's basketball team and not be suspended by the NCAA.  This would mean Iowa would not have become so desperate for transfers which ultimately led to them pursuing AJ Ferrari and the other Ferrari brothers.

The Ferraris basically committed in March of last year (Anthony was the only official one but everyone knew they were a package), the gambling investigation was opened after that before any of the wrestlers knew they were in trouble.

Don't think it was March, the hearings weren't complete by then.  For all anyone knew at that point was they could still be in jail right now.

Anthony announced in March 100%. AJ also announced he was coming back. The hearings weren't complete but obviously they were planning for them to be available best case scenario.

Best case yes.  Believe Anthony is still on a deferred sentence which is like probation.  AJ trial wasn't even supposed to start till Sept/Oct so there's no way they knew his availability.
