My son and I have an annual tradition of finding a sushi place during NCAAs. What's our best option in Tulsa (within walking distance of the arena)?

What are folks doing for parking? I'd like to park all day near the arena. Is this possible with street parking, or is it 2-3 hour metered?

I'm traveling with my dad (80 yrs old) and son (14).

I have no advice but your dad is who I hope to be in 28 yrs.

Let me know when the brand name hotels release their rooms. I didn't go to three years of law school to stay at a La Quinta Inn.

I was about to respond to this but then realized it was me. What an entitled jerk I was back in November.

Why would you go to Tulsa for seafood and seaweed?

Is it barbequed or with chili on the rice?

My thought too, who wants to eat raw catfish from the bottom of the Arkansas River?  What do you think those bottom feeding catfish have been eating all their life?

We're going to Tulsa for the wrestling. If you're saying there's no good sushi in town and we should get BBQ instead, then that's what we'll do. Is that what you're saying?

Any luck with Mexican food?

I would imagine there likely is good sushi, but why go there for it? It's known for chili and barbeque as far as I know.

Yokozuna is the only one downtown that I know of. It's a half mile from the BOK. It's solid, I think, but most of my sushi experiences have been in OK, so I'm not the authority.

Regarding mexican food, literally next door to Yokozuna is La Tertulia. It is way up there on the best in town in my opinion. Definitely get the Quesadilla that's on the appetizer list.

BBQ - Albert G's is downtown and I think it's pretty good. A new one just opened called Alley Cat. I haven't been yet, but the initial Reddit reviews have been positive. The guy who runs it was a pitmaster at one of the best places in town until it burned down.

Here is a list of happy hour specials for the relevant days of the week. Obviously not everything is downtown, but most are going to be 15 minutes or less from the BOK.

Finally some relevant information.

Kudos!

Personally... I'm going to stay away from Elote's, 'puffy taco." That's just me. Live and let live.

I'm jealous and wish I was going.  Tulsa is a place I've only driven through (and during the pandemic) but I would like to get to see it properly some time.  As I've gotten a little older, I prefer to go to mid-sized cities compared to mega cities.

But it's right next to Dennys!

It's 2 hour max on the street but then free after 5 and weekends.

There are several lots and garages close to the BOK Center.

Oklahoma City is the birthplace of the parking meter. Useless trivia for $500!

They're pretty good. I don't know if they still do, but Elote used to have luchador night. Just in case there isn't enough wrestling going on.

Where’s the closest bar that will have Busch Light.

Tulsa has class, you'll need to go to OKC for that.  🍺

What do we think the Uber situation will be?   Hotel is about 10 mile away. Not renting a car. That may be a mistake.  Bus is about an hour.

Staying 10 mile out by choice?
