Perhaps. But not "hot seat."

well, the reason Rash's post was such vapid trash is that we'd have to be in contact with the admins to know whose on the hot seat. Some of these programs that don't seem to care do have hot seats, some coaches are in contract situations where the hot seat has to wait. I'm not sure how we're supposed to know besides pointing out programs we think are underperforming.

Isn't that what we're doing?

ok, well when you got nuanced about "hot seat", I thought you were pushing in a different direction. But, I'd say ASU shouldn't be out of trophy contention for long. Though maybe thats different now, i think they lost their money guy, so historical comparisons might not be in order.

At this juncture I'm just going agree and move on.

Escobedo at IU should be but he won't be.  2 AA's during his 9 seasons, a 6th in '25 and and 8th in '26.  He has failed to land the elite, or near elite, in-state talent and what he does get hasn't developed.

Case in point, Gabe Sollars.  Sollars and Stephen Little traded matches in HS, sollars teched him in freestyle after their senior seasons.  Does anybody really thing Sollars would keep it to a regular decision now?  Very unlikely.

Purdue is getting the talent that doesn't leave the state.  Should be concerning for IU, but it won't be.  At least Goldman could produce a couple of national champs and frequently had AA's.

If my memory serves me right, wasn't Sollars having a decent end of the year?  I remember he pinned Remy Cotton at B10's and dropped a close one to Gabe Arnold in R16 come NCAA's.

I slightly disagree in terms of development. Considering how poor of condition the program was in when he got there, it was always going to take him time to raise the floor. I’d say he has effectively done that.

fully agree, that the inability to keep Indiana's best at home is a big problem. I’m not saying they should be a trophy team but regularly having multiple all Americans and a guy with a chance to win a title shouldn’t be asking too much.

I believe Oklahoma and Oregon fired their coaches for lack of results. I would also add Lehigh to the list of place were a coach could b e on the hot seat.

Oregon doesn't have a program, so do you mean Oregon State? They have had a grand total of 4 coaches since 1957. Lehigh let Santoro be mediocre for 18 years. Not sure they really care that much. Oklahoma did get rid of the last 2 coaches because of results, so I agree they belong on the list.

I got word 2nd hand from member of the IU staff that Goldman was so bad he operated on a third of of the budget of next least funded big ten school. He never asked for anything and the administration just thought wrestling was supposed to be that cheap....yeah the admins there didn't care at all.

Sorry you are right, Oregon State. I think the only reason they got rid of Zalesky was poor results. He was a big name  with NCAAs team championships as coach on his resume, and as far as I know OSU did not have any academic or legal issues with the team, so it is unusual for a wrestling coach to be let go under these circumstance. The bar is fairly low, but Oregon State seem to care more about wrestling than most other schools.

I disagree with calling Santoro mediocre, though. His bio shows 22 wrestlers wing 39 AA honors plus two national champs. Besides Cornell, I think they are the best non-public wrestling program and Santoro has kept them there.

Am I wrong , or did an assistant coach drill a recruit in the face while playing a game involving tossing a frisbee?

I think Jones does a poor job. He was really good tuning violins at the senior level, he's better at it than Cael and CO, but that is not what makes a good college coach at all. He's not really equipped to coach folk at all from what I can tell.

Fortunately the ASU squad also has Molinaro in their corner to help choose what position to select. 😎

All time USA great, but capable of dumbassery! Two World golds and an Olympic gold doesn't insulate him from some of the stuff he has done.  And I have done camps with him and hung out with him and liked him in those capacities.

Do people even remember he has three titles?

Brad Dillion is his first year as he's coach at Lehigh.
