Surprised this hasn't been talked about yet here...

What do you all think of Trump renaming all of these geographic bodies of water? Is this him just trolling? Do we want the president of the United States preoccupied with trolling, especially allies of ours like Canada? If he's going to troll, why not troll Russia? Is this more just punching down?

This seems like a waste of oxygen to be talking about this instead of the current cost of living crisis that we are in.

Renaming a large geographic area/Great Lake the entire world has come to know by a certain name is different than naming a military base in South Carolina, don't you think? Can we re-name Iowa as New New York? Would it he funny if a liberal president renamed Iowa to troll?

Biden was not signing executive orders and making a big deal out of probably 90% of these. I'm also not going to take the time to fact check this list as there are likely mistakes. Isn't Trump involved with naming things the way he wants far more? The Kennedy center?

as recently as June of last year house committee still wants bipartisan effort- which it has in the house- to remove Confederate soldiers names from military bases. The article states it doesn't want our military bases named after people that fought against the nation to defend slavery which I think is a reasoned decision.

The one thing I will say is... In education, geography specifically, they teach kids and test them on names of things like the Great Lakes in grade school. 
 

Will new text books need to be ordered with this change? Will only some states do this? Will educators accept 2 different answers? What about state testing? Will some kids be taught names can change with every administration and they will react saying what's the point in learning names of places if they always change? Become apathetic? Will classrooms argue over the names of geographic bodies based on politics? 

This kind of trolling, while stupid and idiotic, do impact and cascade down to other places we may not think of right away.

Yes. It's very sad. He's once again putting his personal agenda/resentments ahead of the country, like he always does. Fortunately, I think textbooks are now online so they can update names pretty easily. It's still a huge pain for people because we all know its going to change back in 2029, along with the "Gulf of Mexico." He's simply creating confusion for people, for his own personal kicks.

I think he was trolling the PM of Canada.   But the PM of Ontario bit on the trolling and made an idiot of himself in my opinion.   This was to get a stupid reaction from Carney.   I don't think Carney bit on it.   But Ford sure did. 

It would have made more sense to rename it Lake New York.   It's not even that great of a lake!!  NY isn't that great of a state, it all fits!!
