I agree, but they used up more than the allowed number of events for him last year.  He had seven events:
Bison Open
Brown dual
Missouri dual
Oklahoma State dual
Soldier Salute
Hasting Open
Greyhound open

Although... maybe he wrestled those last two events unattached to preserve his year of eligibility and it just hasn't been captured yet in WS.

Karson Brown could be your starter at 141 for the Buckeyes and he could make things even more interesting in that weight class…

Yes I should have said this is only a subset of what the ultimate list will be. Given the new 5 for 5 rule, we should see a whole different level of freshman starters (IMO).

But if they are already listed as a freshman starter in July, it bodes well they may make it to November.

No worries, in that case I think I’m going to go with a guy I was hoping would end up with the Buckeyes this offseason in William Henckel. I just want to see if he even gets to start but I hear he’s good at wrestling…

Ryan Burton at 174 for Michigan is easily the biggest surprise of this entire list.

Before 5/5 I would have said Botero drops to 125 and Aslikyan red shirts. Now they may wrestle for it, in which case it’s a bit of a toss up, but I like Aikyan’s career trajectory more.

Mendoza at 133 has been exciting for me for a few years now, can’t wait to see how he stacks up.

Zepeda going 157 will be nice to see if he’s healthy after coming off his ACL injury.

Sahakian getting a full season of run will be nice to see, I’m hopeful he’s made huge strides with wrestling partners in the room and we get to see him be very competitive overall.

The Cortez brothers - very explosive athletes. Always like fresh blood in the lowerweights.

Rocklin Zinkin isn't on the list and will almost certainly be behind Spratley for a year, but excited to see him in some opens. He is my favorite to be the future of 125/57KG if Luke ever moves up.

Ross/Merrill/Sahakian - Should be some good wars for years to come. Sahakian is a level below for now, but he has the build to be a great heavy and Michigan has the partners to for him to improve if he has it in him.

Sinking can be your favorite whether Luke moves up or not…certainly in the running for one of the most beatable champions last year.

Botero was in Vegas at 57 Kilos and went 61 for U20 WTT not sure if that means anything, but agree has me wondering what he will do.

125 OU, kid is scrappy. Desmond at Penn St will be fun to watch. DeLuca, can he stay healthy? That kid is solid, but nevr healthy.

125 - DeLuca impressed me in high school, but injured last year. Has great training partners

133 - Cortez is a solid freshman. We saw him against Seidel at U20 WTTs. 133 is just so top heavy, but  doesn't mean Cortez can't have a solid freshman season.

141 - I would bet Desmond gets the spot. Hard to gauge the Lilledahl win, but he did have a SV win over Ragusin. Then obviously Bo Bassett. He is going to get a lot of attention. I think he is at least a finalist, but I'm a fan.

149 - Mendoza beat Frost, Willochell(r12).  Up at 157 National Duals he beat Catrabone. He seems like a freshman that can AA

157 - Zepeda. I'm interested but I'm not convinced yet he is an AA type guy

165 - Ninninger up two weight classes. People say he beat Gaj for the spot before getting injured

174 - how good is Eise at Oklahoma? Burton looked great at U20s. Henckle or Cunningham the guy for PSU. I lean Henckle (but that's for another thread).

184 - can Michael White beat Berge? Can Adam Waters beat Fishback?

197 - has Ludington improved? I think Correa seems like an AA threat

HWT - Merrill, Ross, Ziola

Could see Botero 125 this year, then 133 next year. Aslikyan sits 1 then goes 125 for 4. Mendoza 133 for 1 then up to 141 etc

I don’t think Waters beats Fishback…if he didn’t break his ribs this year he’d be an AA again. He can be extremely frustrating to watch but I mean he’s the guy. I’d be surprised if Waters beats him but that cut is brutal for Fishback so it’s not out of the realm…

He was having a hard time with the weight cut this past year…I’m not sure he makes it down.

Didn't know about the ribs. Thanks for sharing that. But yeah, I agree. But with the new rules, everyone in the room is trying to start

Could see Waylon Cressell making some noise for UNI at 184.

Tyson Martin snatches Luke Rasmussen’ spot at SDSU?

Tyler Dekraker AA threat at 149?

How do guys like Perentin, Rath, Heiser, and Jake Hockaday look?

Army has a bunch of stud ‘26 guys coming in. Uhorchuck, Besmer, and LaPlante all have legitimate bids to get into the lineup

I’m pretty stoked for Camden Rugg at this point. I was already happy to have him in the fold and especially recruiting him before he started seeing big jumps up rankings and so on, but he just had a great Fargo and it makes me more excited.

Not a ton else from the rest of Michigan recruits at Fargo that I noticed, may have missed some. Also try tracking kids from the state, but we don’t produce a ton of placers. Had a few this year which was nice to see.
