for wrestlestat, there is no human intervention or judgment. the outcome is based on a formula.  but while we are here, this is my top ten for 125:

1: Spencer Lee

2. Pat Glory

3. Brandon Courtney

4. Matt Ramos

5. Patrick McKee

6. Liam Cronin

7. Michael DeAugustino

8. Killian Cardinale

9. Eric Barnett

10. Braxton Brown

Don't completely disagree - this weight is not easy to rank because a bunch of guys have beaten each other but I'm not sure Brandon Courtney should be so high up with a loss to Barnett. Ditto for DeAugustino who is currently 4-4 on the year.

Not trying to be overtly critical. It's a tricky weight and I don't have the answers

I did catch a match where Braxton Brown took it to a talented Dean Petersen of Rutgers - he was impressive and could be AA!  Fun to watch  too!

125 is the least of the problems with Wrestlestat’s algorithm.

If Daton Fix can still be #1, then something with the algorithm needs to be changed

The algorithm factors in margin of victory as well.

That is why DT would always be rated higher than KD were it around then.

Flo does the best rankings by far

Flo, Intermat, and WIN have each had 6 of their pre-season #1's take a lose and they have changed their #1 in 4 weights as a result.

Wrestlestat has had 5 of their pre-season #1's take a lose (they are the only ones with Mason Parris as a pre-season #1) and they have changed their #1 in 2 weights.

This could be Wrestlestat failing to react to new information, or it could be their failure to over-react to new information.

Rankings are not predictions.

I guess wrestlestat might consider theirs kinda to be?  Does the higher rated wrestler always win in their scenarios?

I think a main problem with wrestlestat’s algorithm is that they put too much emphasis on results from several years ago.  I believe this explains Fix over RBY, and it probably also explains Parris at pre-season #1

I hear ya. But I also think the Flo guys play fast and loose with their mantra that rankings are not predictions. For example, they use them to produce a prediction about who will score what at the tournament.

Don’t they say that’s just a ranking too?

They probably do, but once you assign point values you are assuming your ranking will be the result taking you into the realm of predictions.
