Wick was 74 kg too, correct?

Again, in an alternate universe where he was lighter, didn't own multiple businesses, wasn't interested in BJJ, and still trained at NLWC he might be "next topic."

In his current situation he is "in the mix," even if he ups his mat time to 47 minutes in a month.

But what if we throw MM in?

Wick was not 74 KG when they wrestled.

Wick just went 74 KG for the first time since 2021 at WTT, lost, and defaulted out.

Monster Mitch?  I wish he went this year.

No. Wick weighed in at 174.6 and Nolf at 174.4 for RAF 01. I’m guessing making 74kg negatively affects Wick far more than Nolf.

Ummm just made semi at WTT and lost 6-5 to Carr.

Did fine with the weight and has made it more recently than Nolf.

Also lost 6-5 to Carr.  It was in semi. Lots of guys default out.

Like I said, he beat Nolf, meaning Nolf is not automatic.

I like Nolf, but we are playing fantasyland. If we are  going to play fantasy land, Mitchell is more realistic.

Nolf trains with Tyler Messinger, who works at Flo Sports. They've talked about it several times on FRL. He was a 32 or 33 seed at NCAA's a few years ago.

You don't need a world class training partner to be world class. I will die on this hill. You also don't have to have Cael Sanderson, Tom Ryan, Tom Brands, David Taylor, or Mark Manning in your corner to be world class.

Jason Nolf doesn't seem to be all in on BJJ or RAF. RAF is just fun and makes perfect sense for him. Came right at the perfect time - recently retired and still world class. Still on the mat running a kids club. Doing BJJ. For BJJ he didn't go to ADCC trials this year. I would have expected to see him give that a shot by now. If he doesn't go next go round, seems like he's just having fun with it. Not necessarily after the accolades.

You're the one living in fantasy land, man.  You know it or you are just plain hating.

The match being at 79 KG and Nolf not training, with Wick training, absolutely played a factor (you know this).  74 KG with both parties training is next topic.  Especially with the version of Carr we have had this spring, too.  Quit acting like it isn't.

The only hating going on is a lot of us hating on the rest of the field and MM.

I mean: Nolf isn't training to win anything other than RAF.

Nolf was never a world class freestyle. You have to compete at world's for that honor

We're Monster Mitch in the field, as well, I concede to that.  The version we saw at NCAAs this year would have breezed through the Open or WTT.

In my mind ,world class means either someone who can beat world medalists level wrestlers. For the stricter definition, world class designates a wrestler that can win gold at olympic weight worlds/olympics.

I think Nolf could beat world medalists. This situation is also a byproduct of the one per country limit. So Russians/Soviets and Americans could be kept off teams when in other countries someone their level could solely focus on medaling in the big international events.

I think Vladimir Letun is a good example of a Soviet version of Nolf. Won a gold and bronze at Soviet Nationals. Competed for 10 years but never took part in the big international tourneys.

Metcalf and Nolf are prime examples of World Class guys who never medaled at Worlds or Olympics.

… so Dylan Shawver is a world class freestyle wrestler, but not Jason Nolf who has wins over multiple World/ Olympic Medalists and Champions?

Nolf hasn't won a medal because he never made the team.

If he made the team as our rep, I could be convinced that he is world class.

But yeah....

Is Shawver a world medalist? I honestly never heard of her.

Classic goal post moving used by idiots who make idiotic statements.

Burroughs should return all of his medals to the IOC and UWW, since he was beaten by the non-world class Nolf… same with guys like Kougios, Ramazonov, Bizhoev, Emami… strip their medals, too.

Burroughs was past his prime when he lost to Nolf. He wasn't world class when he lost to Nolf. That's for sure.

But Nolf still didn't make it to worlds that year after beating old man Burroughs.

Is Buchannon workd class after mopping the mats with Yazdani?

As far as returning medals, did Nolf return his gold medal to Hidlay after that railroad job in Pittsburgh?

Indefensible and retarded opinions.

Burroughs made the world team a few months after he lost to Nolf, so he was still world class by your own definition.

Full disclosure…

my internet has been down all day and I am wondering how I ever made it through the 70’s and 80’s…

with that being said…

debates on what world class really does and does not mean in this silly forum is far and away my favorite thing of the week so far…

Granted it’s early…

still got U23 PannAms and an early Fibsl X match to look forward to…

but…

I have got a kick out of this…

Nolf has hammered Carr both times they've wrestled. 10-0 and Fall.

And I have a 9-4 win over a D1 all-American despite never qualifying for d2 nationals.  Stuff changes.

Carr made a team. He got better.

(BTW I helped coach a kid who beat Nolf in high school; No one on earth thinks he's better than Nolf)
