And they'll fall further behind after day 1 and every day that follows. The competition has ballooned this year. So many teams (Lehigh, VT, Cornell, etc.) have studs ready to go. The wrestling we're about to be treated to will be awesome! The team race will be tighter than thought.

Would you believe a division of 1000 soldiers with rocket launchers aimed at your face?

Would you believe a den of cub scouts with rubber band guns?

But they’ll have a higher win rate in the  semis than last year because of how their team depth is skewed. They’ll prob have double the number of wrestlers in the finals this year.

Behind who?  ... Oh, right, themselves (from a record performance last year).  So says Maxwell not-so-smart

PSU has 22.5 points now (just slightly off last year's 24.0).  Lehigh has 8.5 points.  VT 7.5. Cornell 10.

Last year, Cornell had all ten wrestlers at NCAAs.  This year they have 5 (half that number).   According to Maxwell's MAGA Math that is progress.

By tomorrow night (if not sooner), your three teams will all be eliminated from the team trophy race.

Perhaps you better place a call to higher powers on your shoe phone.  Don't expect an answer because there is no one out there, except the mocking silence of the stars and dark empty space

2026 Team totals through Thursday:

Penn State 40.5
Nebby 27
Iowa 25.5
Okie State 25
Ohio State 23
Iowa State 21.5

Here are the comparison numbers from last year's tournament:

2025 team totals through Thursday
1. Penn State: 39.5
2. Nebraska: 28.0
3. Oklahoma State: 27.0
4. Iowa: 18.0
4. Minnesota: 18.0
4. Ohio State: 18.0

The difference in the 2025 tournament is that all ten of Penn State's wrestlers advanced to the quarters.

Thanks for sharing. It's interesting.

Penn State is favored in all 8 of their quarterfinals matches today. Of course they lost 4 in this round last year when favored in 3 of those matches.

This didn’t seem to age well. Maybe wait until Day 1 is over before making Day 1 and the rest of the tourney prognostications??
“Missed it by THIS (1pt AHEAD of last year) much…”  🤡🤡🤡

Penn State is 17.5 points ahead of where they were after Session four at last season's tournament.

I think more likely than not there’ll be a new record, barring any injuries. If Blaze and Duke both both win their consi semi, should be about a done deal unless there’s a Finals collapse.

You never can tell. I thought for sure PJ would beat Robideau based on how good he had looked in his prior matches. I am confident that LL gets it done. I was somewhat worried about SVN coming into the tournament, but he has wrestled very well. If he can start the match with a high pace and get to his offense I think he wins. I'm very confident MM wins. At 174, Levi has looked great, but Minto has wrestled him tough twice this season, and he is extremely hard to score on. I am still picking Levi, but I think kit will be a tight match. The Rocco/McEnelly match is a toss-up. At 197, I think Barr wins going away. I don't think Merrill can slow him down for seven minutes. If Josh can win by Bonus he will end up as the only wrestler with a 100% Bonus rate this season. And based on my research, that has never happened in the modern era.
