  1. Past hour
  2. Being fat isn't the human default body type... do some have worse genetics than others? Sure but obesity rates have increased dramatically over time. Also a maybe a significant portion of that 40% live in cities with public transit? Maybe a portion go to private schools and they avoid crap lunch menus. Maybe a portion are athletes... maybe a portion are educated on what to and what not to consume.
  3. Woman who tried to kill Brett Kavanaugh jailed for eight years Sophie Roske pleaded guilty in April to attempted assassination and faced potential sentence of life in prison Reuters Fri 3 Oct 2025 20.04 EDT A California resident who admitted trying to assassinate the US supreme court justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022 was sentenced on Friday to eight years and one month in federal prison. Sophie Roske, who was charged under her birth name Nicholas Roske but now uses female pronouns, was sentenced at a hearing before US district judge Deborah Boardman in Greenbelt, Maryland. The judge called Roske’s crime “absolutely reprehensible” but said she showed sincere remorse, has no other criminal history and is not likely to reoffend. Roske pleaded guilty in April to attempted assassination and had faced a potential sentence of life imprisonment. Prosecutors said she traveled from California with a handgun, ammunition, a crow bar, pepper spray and other items with intent to commit murder “for terroristic purposes”.
  4. Everything the government touches turns into a shit show. I’ll pass on the gov mandating anything. and yes. $$$ should be taken out of politics. As well as religion. We also need term limits. most people aren’t educated. I’ll bet most of the uneducated have received a good good education from the us public school systems.
  5. well it shouldn't be hard to figure out what at least some of the solutions are if you read my previous post: -Transportation system heavily reliant on personal vehicles vs public transit and biking/walking etc it creates the opportunity to be more sedentary. better public transit infrastructure gets people up and moving instead of going from their couch to the garage and into the car and pulling up to a parking space right in front of their office vs the walking/biking that occurs when using public transit. See European countries. -Checking out in a grocery store and the checkout lane being lined with candy bars vs fresh fruit. Change the options at the checkout counter and don't tempt people with that snickers and maybe an apple instead... (this has been studied in blue zones and these design changes are actually occurring as part of research experiments in certain communities) -The unlimited amount of ingredients in processed foods that lead to health issues that need treated The government can do right by the people it governs by actually taking positive steps to regulate what can and cannot be put into our foods, this shouldn't be a hot button issue... -Dollar generals taking over and being the only source for groceries in many rural areas with a strong lack of fresh produce - A byproduct of late stage capitalism unfortunately. Perhaps incentivize business to carry healthy options? Allow for smaller mom and pop grocers to carry and sell local produce on a larger scale with smb incentives. -Corporations polluting fresh water sources leading to pockets of health issues -DuPont anyone? -Again, not all government regulation is bad, why can't we avoid it odor chemicals from being dumped into fresh water sources? Because it costs the business money to dispose of properly? I guess we'd rather support a 35% increase of lymphoma in a small town vs a business eating into their profits... - Lobbying efforts by corporations to eat more meat which- when grilled/cooked, release carcinogens that aid in the development of abnormal cells leading to cancer -Most people aren't even educated on this, but the reason is the lobbying efforts of these companies to prevent the consequences of it. I'm not vegetarian and love a good steak but too much of a good thing... -General lack of regulation around how our chicken and meats are produced for consumption and the amount of antibiotics and down right disgusting conditions they live in prior to processing - Do we want our chickens living in their own feces before we consume them? -The lobbying efforts of pharmaceutical companies essentially make their billions on a sick population dependent on their drugs I feel we have all agreed on getting corporate money out of politics at some point or another... So we want pharmaceutical companies the ability to essentially bribe lawmakers to keep everyone fat so there will be a large demographic of people to target for GLP-1 use.
  6. Who said the word conservative. How pray tell do 60% of the people based on your #s maintain a non obese existence if the literal system is designed to keep people sick and obese. Sounds like they’re trash at creating systems then no? Is it by virtue of miracles ?
  7. Again- I think you are over simplifying what really is a system that has been designed to keep people sick/obese. And if it isn't directly designed, it sure is a significant by product of that and should be looked at on many different levels. If self control is your main argument then it certainly betrays the thought that conservatives have more self control and motivation than the liberal left according to the data. Unless your subsequent argument is that conservatives only lack self control when it comes to diet and exercise and southern cooking is just too good to pass up:..
  8. i didn't say anything about who was making bad choices. red or blue how would you compare our obesity rates to those of the palestinians who were just under a famine/starvation/genocide?
  9. What’s the real solution. Let the us gov mandate / run things ? What could go wrong with that? They’re never wrong about stuff they force into our bodies right?
  10. Actually, I may have been wrong, though I heard it from a reputable source. However the UK is on the rise.
  11. Great so we are 1b to the UKs 1a - still not something to be proud of... If there is something that should be easy to agree on it's that being that high up on the list at all is not good and we have to do better as a populace from a policy standpoint, education on health and corporatations being more altruistic in the products they produce but that is a far cry away.
  12. Would you do a large tier 2 or separate them? Personally I'd bump Ferrari to 1 and then combine 2&3. I could see all of those guys taking losses from each other.
  13. we know why it is the case. Shoveling too much food in the face and not exercising enough. We know how to fix it. Shovel less food in the face and exercise more. will people do either or both ? Some yes. Some no. Some maybe so
  14. I believe the UK may have surpassed the US...
  15. I think arguing about metrics to measure obesity rates being the highest in the US of all developed nations and splitting hairs between whether we are at a 40% vs 43% obesity rate is less important than finding a solution to why that's the case...
  16. Who is being a racist sheep? I too have no idea whom this bunny is. Nor is the Super Bowl half time show watchable.
  17. Just reporting what Willie said
  18. Regardless of the circumstances, he was a national runner up...
  19. the products of our schools
  20. My Fav. Super bowls Prince Bootie Battle was Epic also 50 Cent Upside Down I think Pit Bull with Lil John should anchor it every year, and a few guest stars each year.
  21. Curious as to why tier 2 doesn't just include Allred. & Smith who are returning AAs. Have Ryder & Sinclair done anything to show they belong a tier ahead before wrestling significant matches at 184? I get Ferrari as he has a common opponent over Silas, but not really Welsh who split with Ruth at 174, who Silas did the same with. I think Smith beat him last year.
  22. I am IMO Fat as F&^% currently, it's the category I prefer.. More motivating... My fault for sure... Considering I have a heart condition and was trained my whole life, you would think I could do better. I attest to local food, southern food, yummy, very unhealthy
  23. Probably a stupid question, but...Is Ryder for sure the starter at 184 with Brayden Thompson in the room? Thompson was #3 coming out of HS and eventually decided to stay when Ryder came in. But Ryder also left PSU because of Welsh, so doubt he chooses OSU if he's not the starter. On Ferrari...keep in mind he beat Plott (6,6,2,4) and took Starocci to the brink (if I remember right, Starocci won on push outs/stalling...a veteran move against a freshman). Not saying he's the top guy (I think that's Mac), but think he is going to be super tough for anyone. Welsh will have top-notch training partners, but wonder if a year away hurts him at all. Sinclair was right there with Mac in freestyle, so that will be a fun if they run into each other. 1) Mac 2) Ferrari 3) Sinclair The best part is that OSU, Minny, Iowa, and Mizzou will all be at the national duals and the soldier salute.
  24. 10+ pounds over a month before any real competitions is interesting? Unless he's already sucked down some, 10 pounds in a month is nothing.
