The 3-Point Takedown: Friend or Foe?
red viking replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
It's all relative. By giving more pts for takedowns and NF, we've de-emphasized reversals, escapes and penalty points. I think the penalty points is the big one for me. At least one other person here pointed that out. A wrestler can stall more, etc without if having a significant chance of affecting the outcome. -
My middle child went to a public HS where ~1/4 to 1/3 were "skippies." The high school started with a pre-HS grade (normally like 8th) then 4yr 9-12. Those who skipped a year had skipped 7th grade at their JrH and went straight from completing 6th grade into the pre-HS year. Sports wise they placed 2nd in state soccer son's Jr year, it was obviously a young team. Also about 25% of kids made National Merit each year. Different issue but research has shown kids do better when start learning early (doesnt have anything to do with skip year) so I don't understand the hold back for kindergarten.

The 3-Point Takedown: Friend or Foe?
Wrestleknownothing replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
I was just looking at that. Zero Takedown Matches In the two years prior to the rule change (2022 -2023) there were 13 matches where the winner had 1 point (i.e. no takedowns). In the two years since the rule change (2024 - 2025) there have been 76 matches where the winner had 1 or 2 points (20 with a single point, 56 with 2 points). One Takedown Matches In the two years prior to the rule change (2022 -2023) there were 51 matches where the winner had 2 or 3 points (i.e. one takedown). In the two years since the rule change (2024 - 2025) there have been 352 matches where the winner had 3, 4, or 5 points. Even if you expand the 2022-2023 scoring to include 2, 3, or 4 points for the winner, based on the assumption most 4 point matches involve one TD, one or two escapes, and zero or one riding point, the total is still only 281 matches. No matter how you look at it there has been a substantial uptick in zero (+485%) or one takedown matches (between 24% and 590%). I think by any metric it is clear that the 3-point takedown has had the opposite effect to what was intended. -
That is harder to quantify. Anecdotally, I would say the parentage is extremely small. We think the percentage is higher because it is a little more common practice for wrestling versus the general population. However, when looking at the general population it is very rare.

Quickly is paramount. They showed us how much respect for humanity when they came here illegally?

Americans are geographically illiterate but what else is new?

Public schools are working. -
IKR? This guy is on the commie train.

I don’t agree with a lot of that guys policies. But him being Muslim has nothing to do with why I don’t think he’s a great choice.

lol... if we aren't at risk now... we would soon be at risk if we stop being the worlds cop.

Here's a simple solution. Recognize that we can't stop our enemies from getting nukes forever. It's a matter of time until they ALL get nukes. Maybe instead of trying to control and bomb the hell out of anybody that wants to get similar technology to what we've had since the 1940s, we could mind our own business and stop trying to run the entire world. Israel would be at risk but that isn't our problem. They can find another place to have their ethno-theocrcy if needed. I'd be happy to give them northern Florida.

and they are 'threats' nothing actual

I don't think that is correct. His RS would have been 21-22 school year, if he is going to graduate in 2026. According to Track he was wrestling between 100 - 106 in the spring of 2021. He won Cadets at 45 KG (99 lbs) in July of 2021 before he redshirted. I suppose you could argue that the best 99 lber in the world in July 2021, would of needed to a redshirt to compete at the State tournament in March 2022 at 106, but he wasn't competing at 95 lbs when he would of been a freshman.

I see scroogie stopped arguing with his son RV. Why?

Funny how all these assessments came out during Bidens presidency huh scroogie? When Joe Mush Brain wasn’t really running anything. Ya these reports are credible.
