If 97 then he has to beat azarpira at the trials which is a great test to see how he can transfer to 97

Morbid celebration of ideological murder

Jimmy, do you ever get bored? Just wondering.

Nice dialog & repartee between fellow posters today with the action thick & heavy on the mats. I'll get up tomorrow morning to set the table for all of you again... though it will be the ending of men's freestyle tomorrow. After that, someone else can follow thru if they wish. cheers! D3

I think Trent talked about having a mindset shift at pan am's. He was not super happy with how he wrestled at final x and decided his only focus was going to be to score as many points as possible. I'll be interested to see If Barr closes the gap next year or if it widens in Trent's favor. Seems like a 2-horse race at 92 for the foreseeable future unless Sinclair puts on a little size to help him out.

That is one thing about freestyle I don't like is the either or positions. Leaves way too much to interpretation.

Trent's "you have to be in a dark place to beat me" interview after the semis: Trent Hidlay Knows You'll Have To Go To A Dark Place To Survive 6 Minutes With Him On The Mat After the finals: Trent Hidlay After His 'Insane' Gold Medal Match

I'm rewatching now I'll score it.. Trent took a shot off his underhook, got stopped and taken though for 4.. and then Gad is on top and guts him to go up 6-0. Hidlay with a nice edge takedown 6-2 Then Gad gets the controversial 4. I would have scored it 4-2 in favor of red. So 8-6 for Gad Then the next controversial position where they gave 2 to Hidlay where I thought it should have been 2 for blue (thank God it wasn't or it would have been a tech). 10-6 for Gad 2 takedown for Hidlay to make it 10-8. another 2 for Hidlay to make it 10-10. The last four probably could have easily been called 4-2 for Hidlay to make it 14-12. It's freestyle, sure, Trent initiated every attack, but you can't get chest wrapped and expose your own back as you go for the takedown and not give up points in the process.

Don't be that guy. Trent dominated everyone he faced in the world at 92 KG except 92 KG. My statement is factually true.

He did it for his tranny lover

I wasn't aware Spencer doesn't scout his opponents, or that his coaches don't insist he do so as part of his training. If that's true, that's coaching malpractice. This isn't some dual against Iowa Central Community College.

F’n A!! That was pure awesomeness. Man on a mission completed
-
Good thing unlawfuls are here to make paste huh?
-
Fair enough, we see it differently. I still would love to See Dabir and Dorostkar removed, and see a new regime. I know it's not very likely
-
Do they score actual offensive points different than points?
-
Man, that win by Hidlay is one of the best comebacks I have ever seen. Firouzpour vs Hidlay will be fun

Haruntunyan is super legit, no doubt. He was definitely one of the favorites for gold, and there was very little reason, on paper, to say Lee was better than him. Lee was hyped, the Armenian was not, and people overlooked him for no good reason. That part I agree with. That said, writing off Lee's loss by saying Haruntunyan is "just that amazingly good" isn't particularly convincing. Haruntunyan got pinned in the semis, and barely squeaked by RBY in the 3rd place match. Just a quarter-second more, and RBY would've been awarded the winning TD. Haruntunyan lost to Fix 10-0 in Fix's silver medal run of a few years ago, and lost at the Olympics to Abdullaev, who Spencer beat. I guess it's possible Haruntunyan was just a bad matchup for Lee, but I dunno. It's hard to look at Spencer's match against Haruntunyan, and how he got outwrestled in every position, and not conclude that this tournament's version of Spencer is worse than the Olympics version of him. And it's hard not to expect that trajectory will continue, or at least not reverse itself, if he/Brands doesn't make a change.

While I agree with you in spirit, he was ready for Trent’s shot and rightfully scored off of those lifts. That wore him down though and that combined with Trent’s adjustments on his finish was the difference.
-
Ok, and David Taylor's heavyweight was completely terrible and went for a head pinch at 125kg which got him teched against a guy he had beat before. I don't think it's fair to put it all on 86. Azapira has wrestled two matches this entire year and is in the final.

Why We Suck at Debate (And How to Do It Better)
ThreePointTakedown replied to jross's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
Thought stopper That's what I think the 'too many' comment was meant for. That's what CK was great at and many others on the right. They don't have the burden of facts so they figure out how to shut down a conversation and without being proven wrong, they can dance around as the winner. 'Too many' assumes there any. If CK didn't know how many there were and they didn't, then the answer should've been 'I don't know'. But that phrase is demonized on that side. Not having the conviction of a solid answer is looked upon as weakness. Watch any conservative that tries to make an outrageous point. Once confronted by the facts that they are wrong can they ever admit it? Never. Because they are looked down upon for admitting to anything that could be considered weak. Forcing them to move the goal posts. Obfuscate. Or claim, 'out of context'. You can set your watch by it. It's not coincidental that many of them grew up in faith. The one thing that faith cannot survive once exposed is doubt. Be it right or wrong, the opinion must be absolute regardless. Clinging to the veracity of the claim as true with all their hope and strength. It's not happenstance that these same people are drawn to strong men with strong opinions that twist and bend but never admit their error. Because they were raised to believe that these people are the holders of truth and cannot be questioned. -
That is my point. David Taylor, the coach, managed to turn an athletic guy who was a second rate wrestler into an unbeatable wrestler. We need coaches who can do that. That is not Dorstkar

Congrats on the team title. It was unofficially locked up Saturday so dreading having to wait three days for it confirmed was miserable.
-
Ok, count me in. What a freaking legendary performance. Like someone said …. He scored 20 points in that match but lent a bunch to his opponent. What an incredible comeback. Count me in as a big time fan. WORLD CHAMPION

Yes. Replace Folkstyle with Freestyle entirely. There is nothing wrong with that.
